    "Fastner Police" (head markings...)

This information may be compiled already but I could not find a good thread.

I am hoping to compile what is the correct head markings of the fastners around my 70S)

I sorted my bucket of bolts today and will get them plated. I presume some of them are incorrect as well as I know some are correct (KAMAX).

Can anyone comment on what ones are clearly incorrect so I can purge them and would anyone be willing to take digital photos of applications they know have the original fasteners.

I am willing to take on the task of documenting all of the fastners as I prepare to assemble my fully restored car in the coming months.

Kamax , Dera, Verbus and Karro are all keepers...
Kamax is most commonly seen in the 10mm bolt found everywhere including engine sheetmetal tin..
13mm Dera is more common on a 73',, used for door hinges but not excluded from 70' in other area's in 10mm
Kamax and Verbus came in all sizes.

Bob, thank you for the survey of fasteners. I am going through a similar exercise on my '66, trying to decide what is right, what goes where, and what color.

I believe that a '66 should be clear zinc (silver) while the later cars are yellow zinc. But I am not certain. The 356 guys have really studied this extensively and know exactly what fastener goes where in what shade. Hopefully those in the know can chime in here.

I have some other headmarks that I'll post but I highly doubt they are original. The 6mm screws for the cooling tin say "Thyssen" and have an Audi-four-rings symbol (clearly wrong, despite being German steel) and some other M6x12 have an inverted N (looks like Cyrillic letter I) that I don't know what it is, and can't find it in the USPTO's headmark directory.

Finally, I would add that if you buy a fastener kit from Stoddards the headmark is "B-Y" which I believe is Wurth hardware, but the manufacturer is unknown to me.

    Thanks for starting this thread.

Can somebody with a 67 build 67MY car tell me which headmarks
are on the bolts holding the decklid latch and catch? I have a
couple of Karro and a Kamax and don't know which is correct.

Does that mean the Graeka bolts are from pre-70 911s and 356s?

    John,

I'm going through this with my '65 911 engine right now. I did them in "gold" years ago because I liked it better at the time. Now I'm re-doing them in "silver". And also re-doing the sheet metal in the correct color. I'll post a photo in a few days.

Wow, great thread (pun intended). I'd love to know the specs for a 71T myself and...to hell with what the other half thinks. Just remind them you could out at the bar pinching rearends on the hotties instead of climbing out from under the rearend of your car.
oh, ps: I think that's why my wife left me
