Thread: R deck hinges

    R deck hinges

Zeke (on the pelican forum) mentioned to me on a PM that Eric? might be working on putting an order of hinges together. He had several produced last year but I missed it. Anyone know anything about this project? $200 is a bit steap from GT.

    Hi Ron,

I actually made some good progress this last week and will post a picture in the next couple of days. I have made and formed all the pieces. I would like to get them over to Zeke for a QC inspection.

    EricW,
Excellent, thanks for the work. While eagerly awaiting pics, do you have details: materials, is it to the spec that is on the http://www.scatliff.mb.ca/pelican/911R_Deck_Lid_Hinge.pdf , expected date, expected price?

I have had a chance to put a hinge together this morning (using a gauge pin).
The pieces were cut using a edm machine. This enabled us to make the parts using slots and tabs. This puts everything in exact location prior to welding. This hinge actually will stay together as it is, naturally any pressure will cause it to come apart, but this saves from having to make locating fixtures.

Does anyone know if the original R hinges used phillips, slotted, or allen hardware?

    Thanks,

    Erich
