    Celette Fixtures for 911?

We just bought an older Celette Bench or body jig for the 911 restorations we do.

However.....I need to buy the 911 specific fixtures. I thought this might be a good place to ask.

I appologize if this is the wrong forum.

    Thanks,

That's interesting. I was just reading the early 911 workshop manual last nite and reading all about that jig. There appears to be what looks like jack stands (rather tall ones) that mount to the shock tower locations. Then I started looking at the fold out pictures with all the measurements and went brain dead. That must be voodoo trying to measure a scrunched 911 for alignment.

It's not as hard as you might believe. It's harder to straighten a 911 on a standard frame machine than it is on a Celette.

I am trailering my 72T this Saturday to Damon Josz (series900) in Sunapee, NH. The whole reason I'm making this time consuming trip is to get my car into his talented hands on one of his Celettes. I think of it as a giant go/no-go gauge for your 911 tub. It has fixtures that bolt up to all of the critical points.

Worth it? I'll let you know, but I have a sneaking suspicion I'm going to be very happy when I get it back.

Aaron, I did some research a while back to find local people with Celettes for my 72. What I found is no one around here has them for the early cars. The local Celette fixture dealer here is Kevin Spout (DHI) at 313-534-8034. Or you may be able to find out from Damon. I understand they can also be rented for about $1000.

I contacted Celette N.A. and it sounds like we are buying the last set of 911 fixtures in existence......not cheap but worth it in my opinion.

    Thanks guys....

    thanks

    Celette Table

I know where a complete rig is located that has some special 356 jigs that Celette never made. The former owner, a master metal man was known to "roll his own". The 911 parts are there as well.

You would be required to buy the complete setup, table and all. It's in Waynesboro, VA. I think $5,500 would get it lock stock and barrel.

Unfortunately, Laser Tables have sort of made these things dinosaurs. A good laser frame guy can do the job better and faster.

I've seen a totaled Carrera 3.2 brought back from a complete front end replacement and dial in perfectly once completed. In fact, the body man who did the work is so good that when it was put on a lift and inspected at a Porsche dealer, nobody found any sign of damage to the car (ever).

It was later sold and if my suspicions are correct the title was NOT branded. Nice, eh?

Won't that make you think twice about buying that "perfect" E-Bay car next time???

    Best,

    Tom

The set of fixtures I bought are for '72-'89 911s. When we get an earlier car I'll figure out what we need and probably make them.

Otherwise.....an '87 Carrera is going on this thing soon.....then after that a '73 RS. I'll post pics of the RS (1166).

    Thanks for the response....
