Reinstalling 901/911 Shift Knob with Crimp Sleeve

Uncle! What's the trick to getting this done without cracking the knob?

    Thanks

Bob, I've never done it, but I'd think a rubber mallet should do the job? Hoping somebody else will weigh in. Good luck, Paul

    I Did It Thusly

Place the crush sleeve well deep into the knob. Orient the knob over the shift lever how you want it. Give it an open palm slap and voila! Its on. No mallet, given the age of that plastic you may not like the way it looks any longer.
