    1969 911S on ebay...

I think this says it all:

"This car has a clean title that is NOT A SALVAGE TITLE and has its VIN plate waiting to turn your "E" or "T" into an S."

So what do you guys think? Is there $14,725 worth of VIN # there?

Sure. Counterfeits exist. I've said it for years, and recently have proven it to some. The whole thing makes me sick. (edit) It will do no good to solve the overall problem, but FWIW, I asked seller a question. That is, if he knew that tampering with VIN plates was a federal offense. Then I contacted ebay, asked them to kill the auction.

I must concur, that auction is outrageous. It's one thing to sell it as a roller/parts car... or even mislead someone that restoring it would be a good investment... but to blatantly tell people to swap the VIN and make their T into an S and to sell it for $70k!! Wow, a real model citizen. I hope his top bid is $2,500 max and he crawls back into his hole in the ground.

The sad part is, this car could well be a good parts car for somebody. But the VIN plates should be removed...and destroyed, the twisted chassis sent to be melted down. That after the goodies have been removed, of course.

Anybody interested on going in on the car? If there are enough parts to make it worth the cost, we could split up the parts and give the VIN a prorper burial. I'd love those wheels for my '69S.

There you go...maybe the engine & MFI are rebuildable? The list goes on...could easily be $5K worth of parts on this total...Maybe John Walker would be interested? You might contact him...

There are already two guys who want to do this with me; it all comes down to numbers. I'll keep you guys posted if we can pull it off. Paul, if we win, we should send you the VIN plates. I get the feeling you are the perfect guy for decommissioning this car.

From the auction: "The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the listing." So, is this wreck headed for Seattle? Hope so. I'd trust you...just cut the plates into small pieces, drop them in Puget Sound. Momma nature would take care of the rest.

I got the guy to email me the vin # in case one of you guys don't end up with the car: 119300289. Make a note of it in case it shows up somewhere.

He and I have been in email contact. He took it down due to emails regarding the VIN swapping. He asked me to make him an offer and I think I will. Those of you that have contacted me regarding this car, let's talk tomorrow morning.
