Paint on Oil Lines? Nauseating Detail Question.

On the 70S the from oil cooler lines run through the body. Does anyone know if the factory did anything to mask the lines or were they just sprayed over?
This is a picture from when I was getting a door re-skinned after a small hit. The lines here are painted but the car was changed from orange to red.
I am would like to get all these small details right during my upcoming bare metal respray.

    Thanks in advance.

I have been "restoring" cars for too long.

I looked back on all the cars that I have owned and never really completed one to the standard I would have liked.

Until now "restoring" has been more like "nursing".

This time I am doing a proper job.

Then I can move on with my life.

Bob, Details like that make the difference in my opinion. In this case it doesn't take any extra time to do it right. Door jambs are also an area that most shops don't spend the time to do properly. There is nothing worse than staring at overspray etc. on your body tag everytime you get in and out of the car. My '70 has still has much of it's original paint. The lines are body color. The rubber grommets were installed after painting, they are not masked. Since the lines are essentially part of the car once it's welded together, it makes sense they would be painted with the body. Though not really relevant to this question, I bought a set of NOS through the body lines from Gary Emory for my hotrod, they are matte black.

Those lines are purple on my burgundy car. The spray depth was so light, they came out purple. So yes, they are supposed to be the color of the car.

In addition, the lines on the 2 S's I've had were shot with the body schutz and plenty of it.

    Thanks Guys.

This is this is what I expected but just wanted to confirm.
I will pull the grommets and spray over the lines in body colour.
Glad that the factory did do anything fiddly here.

Is it going back to Signal Orange? FWIW I agree, the lines should be body color.
