Thread: 180MPH Mechanical speedometer, factory RS? Help me ID it.

180MPH Mechanical speedometer, factory RS? Help me ID it.

The 911S I bought recently came with a 10,000 RPM tachometer and a 180MPH speedometer in a box (nice bonus!). From my searches, I can tell the 10K RPM tach is a factory RSR part (911 641 304 00). But searching for the 180 MPH speedo number (911 641 506 29) I come up blank. The guy said it came from a '73 Carrera RS, any way to confirm this?

    Thanks for your help.

A genuine Carrera RS 180mph speedo has the warning light for the parking lamps at the top of the gauge:

Is this how you confirm a genuine 300km RS speedo as well?

Thanks Andy, my guage has the warning light in that location! I've seen the 911 641 506 00 part number listed, but that's the number for the genuine RS 300KPH Speedo, right? Your picture would indicate this by the "100" visible.

Since no Carrera RS was imported to the US, this must be a pretty rare guage. Do you own the guage in the pic above (or know the owner), and could you see if it's part number 911 641 506 29? What car is that out of...did the UK edition Carrera RS come with a MPH guage?

Thanks for your help in solving this mystery.

Is it possible to get a speedo shop to rebuild a standard speedo for 180mph? I realize it's considered blasphemy in certain circles but is it doable?
