    Original speaker, radio and buttons?

    Hi

Can you help me with a few things about a 1973 911 2.4S

    Is the speaker original?

The radio that came with the car is called Blaupunkt Frankfurt de luxe, is this the correct radio for a 1973 911, and where should the wires from the radio be connected(ground and positive)?

What are the two buttons on the left and right side of the steering wheel for?

What is the pull button under the left side of the dash for?

See pics also in next post

    Thanks John

To get the ball rolling, I can tell you the one on the right of the steering wheel is for resetting the mileage odometer. The radio looks correct to me, but that means little. Your other three questions, I do not know. One comment -- the pull switches above the radio do not look like they are from a 1973 to me... they look like from an earlier year (say a 1969-70)... but others with greater knowledge will chime in.

The pull knob to the left of the steering wheel is for the rear wiper.

The speedo trip reset you actually push in and twist to reset. The other is for the rear wiper you pull out, the pull knob under the dash is new to me never seen one there on a 73, radio speaker is definately non original, check here for your radio as an option for that year. Doesn't look correct to me however looks more dated i.e earlier.

The speaker doesn't look original to me - but curious that it has a 911 part number?

The radio isn't the standard Frankfurt, could be an option but I agree it looks to be earlier than 73. The faceplate looks like a Becker piece (printed stripes on back side of clear plastic). Nice looking radio though - there should be leads under your dash for power (positive) ground and antenna.

This makes it look like a Blaupunkt Manheim late 60's. Are you sure you have a 1973?

Is this a European delivery car? That would explain the lack of rubber safety bumpers on the knobs. At first, the radio looked like a Becker to me. Anyway, here is what an original speaker looks like:

Okay, that didn't work...yet I know I've posted the same pic here before.
Anyway, you can see a listing of what radios came with what years here...but I think this may be USA equipment?

and here's a link to an earlier thread here where I did post the speaker pic:
