WTB: Sport Seats for my '70 911S (yes I know they're expensive)

I have a 1970 911S that came without sport seats, and would like to add an original pair. I think I have the only 911S whose owner was too cheap to spring for the $45 sport seats! The condition is unimportant as long as they are complete. Please PM me with what you have and the price.

No you aren't. We are more common than you think.

    bay area sport seats

I saw those seats in the 69, 912 Targa last weekend at EASY, in Emeryville, Ca.

If you know the owner Jim, you might call him about them before believing all the ad has to say. It was left there by the new current owner who is changing some of the items out of the car suchas, the seats.

Side bolsters need new padding and the back of the drivers seat was stapled at the bottom instead of hooks. I only noticed it cause the staples were not holding and the vinyl was hanging down. The straps on the bottom of the seats were wet so the seats were getting moisture from sitting out in the rain. I recall their was that telltale smell when I opened the car door.

    Better consider them Cores!

That's why I have a closed car with good seals. Had a Targa it leaked.....had more then one sunroof car and they leaked. Not including a couple of non Porsche models with sunroofs that leaked.

I guess if you did not have to use one as a daily driver you could try and stop the leaks as you found them.

    Keep the insides dry,
    Scooter

The car they are pictured in is a 912 that was on Seattle craigslist a month or so ago! He beat me to it. I'd have done the same thing except they would have been re done for my '70. From the extensive photos I saw, they looked to have been recovered in incorrect materials.

Those sport seats on ebay are "ok", if you've got a spare set of slider/consoles laying around. Otherwise you will get very frustrated trying to find a set to complete those seats. Those seats are the 69 to 73 styles due to the lack of an integrated slider (you would see the handle poking out from the bottom seat bolster), and you can clearly see the "feet" on one of the seats (a piece of steel poking straight down out of the seat with height adjustements, used to bolt to the slider/console mechanism).

One way of using those seats would be to get a set of Recaro aftermarket sliders and mounts, but you wouldn't be able to tip the seats foward. The other way would be to perhaps buy a set of the tip brackets/sliders from GTS seats....they aren't correct, but they might be able to fit these seats. Note that to use either of these ideas, you would have to cut the "feet" off of these seats first.

    regards,
    Eric
