    No Reverse In My 1970 911 S

Went for a ride a few days ago and lost reverse. Could not get in gear and got grinding. Stopped immediately and pushed the car to turn it around.

The car will go in reverse if not running or sometimes if the tranny is not hot. All other forward gears are fine no slipping or grinding. Thought it may the reverse synchro until I found out there is no synchro for the reverse gear. Does not seem like a throw out bearing or clutch as I think if this was the case, I would have issues with all the gears.

I am puzzled and wondered if anyone had some thoughts.

    Thanks for the help.

    John

Your clutch may not be fully actuating. This is typical. Make sure the pedal is adjusted by the book. Also, these cars are known to break the clevis at the cable near the clutch fork. One of the legs on this clevis might be sheared off.

Thanks for the informaton. Seemed to be the cable as it is now fine after the adjustment. I have another issue regarding the MFI that is keeping the idle high and affecting getting into reverse.

See my new post of the MFI.
