Adjusting Koni Struts

I hereby nominate Koni for the worst-written installation instructions of any product from any manufacturer in any language in the entire history of the world (actually, there is no writing at all - it's all in some sort of unitelligible bi-lingual sign language!).

Anyway, I don't understand how to adjust these things. I realize that turning the shaft changes the firmness, but there are no index marks or gradations or clicks that I can see/hear. So how would you know if both struts are adjusted to the same firmness or what that firmness setting is???

I have the E here at the shop today for Koni install...you are right the
instructions are pretty much worthless. I ordered mine from Jason at
Paragon...I'll be calling him Monday AM. Boge housings, appears Iam missing
a spacer & how to adjust. Sorry Iam no help

What spacer do you need? I replaced Koni lo-pressure Reds with identical Koni's in Boge housings. There's the strut, the rubber boot and the white dust cap. That should be it. Unless the E housing is different?

BTW: they are a PITA. The problem I had was getting the top of the shank up through the upper strut bushing. I wound up feeding some wire down thru the bushing, wrapping it around the threads and pulling the shank up thru the bushing. Then there were just enough threads there to get the nut started.

Would it be so difficult for Koni to include a brief write-up on adjustment & installation like that on the Paragon site instead of the Eygptian hieroglyphics they use??? Looks like I won't be adjusting these anytime soon. I was under the impression these could be adjusted in the car. Apparently not. Thanks Chris.

Hi there

They all work the same: push the upper part down, then rotate. Sometimes one must first remove a rubber in the upper cover/cap to get the upper half all the way down to the bottom. You can then rotate them through e.g. 180°, i.e. from close to open. New ones are normally fully open, they can later on (as they wear) be adjusted to a more firm valve setting again.

BTW: if you don't feel the "clicks" the lower and upper part haven't engaged.
