Show me your panel gaps(Early Targas prefered)

I am now into this delightful task of aligning my panels after having my car totally disassembled, stripped and repaired. Still needs paint.

I know the spec is 3mm if gap around the panels with some tolerance. That being said a very experience bodyshop has given me much advice on what what was typically seen coming out of the factory in the late 70s and 80's.

What I would like to see are pictures of panel gaps (doors and fenders mainly) on our early cars from the factory. (early Targas prefered)

I am pretty damb impressed with my gaps but the shop was encouraging me to fiddle with it some more. They are nice enough to let me do it rather then paying them shop rates to confirm everything will go together after paint.

    Thanks in advance.

Bob - here's mine as it sits on jack stands right now. All gaps are similar to this - about 3mm. They don't change when I jack it up either. I can easily open/close the doors no matter how it's jacked. Not bad for a flexiflyer Targa!

    Thanks Curt.

This is exactly what I am looking for.

Do you mind taking a picture of the door to rear quarter and gap along the full length of the bottom of the door?

Having these pics will really be helpfull to me.

    Regards,

OK, here're a couple more. A little hard to see the gap along the bottom edge. I'd say that is under 3mm. Maybe 2mm or so.

BTW, my car has not been apart. So these should be the factory gaps.

    Big thanks Curt!

I know things are going well now. I was told my door to rocker gap was too small. If I raised it to get the gap then I was high at the Targa bar. Your 2mm gap along the bottom confirms my suspicions.

I should be able to get things within spec this weekend.
