Well Gentlemen,
I am assuming that most of the guys here figured out whose car it was immediately and were kind of enough to let it lie until I chimed in. I deliberately kept a radio silence while the buyer and I finalized our sale. However, it is official now, and for the first time in almost 9 years I no longer own ANY Porsches. I am curious to see how long I can hold off before my instincts and my checkbook can stand it no more.
My big reason for selling was not necessarily the money or that there was anything wrong with the car. In fact, it was the opposite - it was set up exactly the way I always wanted an early SWB to be. Now that all the work has been done, and the car is as Dr. P would have wanted it, my feelings were that it was time to move on and taste a different year and different model 911 - once I have a chance to breath.
Actually, one of my casual friends told me once a few years ago that the best thing about me was my car. So I am hoping I can prove him wrong...
It is a great car, and I have been assured that it is going to a loving home in the UK.
BRegards
Garth
PS By the way, Claudius (aka 68S_SK2) who has a 68S and I went for a spirited little 2 hour drive outside of Munich yesterday before I handed the car off to the transport company (sorry guys but neither of us remembered to bring a camera -****).
Nothing like going for a drive in the country with another early 911. It gives you a chance to appreciate the beauty of these cars in motion from the outside while also being in one feeling it for yourself. He has the skinny tires on his factory 5.5 Fuchs and the look was great. Although my deep 6's held like glue in the turns compared to his!!!
Skinny tires for show, and fat tires for go
His is a beautiful looking burgundy colored 68S coupe, and it looked great next to my irish green sunroof "S" poser...
When we were done and were drinking a beer together, we both thought the same thing: amazing how well these little 2.0 SWB cars perform for being almost 40 years old!!!
PPS I will also need to change my user ID at some point since I no longer have a 67 car in my possession. I intend to update the registry with a new user ID once I have found another car to flaunt.
Garth - congratulations (commiserations ?) on selling your beautiful car - I only wish I had been in the position to buy it as I've not yet owned a swb model.
Hope to see it here in the UK - was the buyer an Early S Registry member ?

Hi Andy,
I don't believe he is a member here - yet! I think that with his new toy he will want to be though. He is from Walsall and his plans are to use it as a rally car and occassional weekend adrenaline fix. From what has told me, he also has a 65 911 that he recently acquired. I am guessing that he decided after being run over in the 2 liter class it was time to buy an early one with a more hopped drivetrain. In respect to his privacy, I will let him divulge his own identity when he decides to come forward.
