I'm only a Deputy of the Torq-Thrust D police and I'll probably be corrected by the Sheriff in short order here ..... but, those look like the Mag version to me. The 'D' I believe refers to the shape of the cross-section of the spoke.

Mine are Al - slightly different shape spoke, different shape center.

Oh my, nice wheels......I mean...TERRIBLE WHEELS! They could explode at any moment killing thousands of nuns and small children. Sell them to me and save yourself!

Seriously though, those are early Mag D spokes. Later ones had a strengthening rib around the perimeter of the spoke. Yours have the gusset on the back of the spoke which the really early ones did not.

For the sake of comparison, here are the later mag wheels with the strengthening rib.

Would you actually run these? The horror stories of these spontaneously combusting are concerning. I assume if they pass the balance test, it's OK, eh?

spontanious combustion - you are joking, right?

Like anything else, you need to maintain them. They are 35+ year old magnesium which is pretty brittle. I drive mine all the time (see you in California) but I would never auto-cross or race on them.....although I have seen several sets on the track lately.

Thanks for the info. These are actually my father in laws wheels and we were just looking for some info on what they exactly are. Cornpanzer thanks for the info on the strengthening rib we looked at several others but these looked different.

Those look to be in great condition.
The mag D spokes are best for when you don't need the extra strength and safety of cast wheels.
