    Weird flasher problem

My '73 has had the same problem since it was new. The dealer tried to fix it under warranty, according to the service records, without success.

The problem only occurs in the first minute or two after starting.

The problem is that the left turn signal doesn't flash at first. When the switch is put in the left turn signal position, both indicator lights on the dash go on dimly, and the signal lamps glow, but the lights don't flash. There is no problem with the right signal. The problem clears up more quickly if the hand brake is set. Evidently the extra current draw (the hand brake indicator uses the same flasher as the turn signals, it seems) causes the problem to clear.

All of the bulbs seem to be in good shape, and are correct specification. The prior owner put in a new turn signal switch, a few years ago, to no avail.

It's not hard to live with, as automotive problems go, yet it would seem to be a 33-year old mystery that is long overdue to be solved.

    Has anyone ever seen this?

I have a similar situation with my 73.5 "T" When I put the left turn signal on both indicator lights flash like hazzards. It Works properly with Right turn.
However, my lights outside appear to working fine dispite this condition.

I thought it was odd when I first got the car, but thought the indicator light was "bleeding" through to the other and thought nothing of it.
