    Year: 1967

    Winning bid: US $317.12
    Sale date: Oct-14-06
Notes: "I bought this 67 911 a couple of months ago to restore, it had a new motor and trans and needed floors and paint, my specialty. When I got it home it needed not only floors, but the ledges the floors rest on is gone, further the bulkhead, package tray, rockers and bumpers are all rotten. My estimate is 200 hours to rust repair with custom patch panels (there are no bulkheads and package trays out there). 300 hours if you're doing it yourself and don't have a lot of experience making patch panels. I started parting the car out, got most of my money back out of it, but this is long and tedious, I estimate there is $2000 worth of parts via ebay here, or it could be made into a race car since much of these rotted items you toss out and remake with lighter composites, or put together with some other cars to complete a car."

Notes: "This auction is for a 1965 911. This is the first year Porsche put the 911 into production. This auction includes the original numbers matching (engine is NOT the original one that came in the car from the factory, but rather the same that came in the '65 911's). 6 cylinder 2.0 engine and the 5 speed manual transmission (I believe this trany to be the one that came in the car from the factory). Car is a project car, but for the most part is complete. Aside from having a original untouched 1965, you could not find a better car to start with. Great Winter Project.

    Year: 1966
    VIN Number: 302972
    Winning bid: US $5,000.00
    Sale date: Nov-09-06
Notes: "This is a 1966 model Porsche 911. Made on 3rd december 1965 # 302972 means it is one the first 3000 911's made!! Rare!!.

The good points: When I got the car the previous owner had blacked out all of the chrome and switched the original rear engine cover for a later model version. I sourced great original doors and rear engine cover which explains the color difference. Good floor pans, matching Porsche ignition key, good back seats, Good hounds tooth insert front seats, chrome trim and lights, gauges, headliner, glass except windshield. Great original doors, chrome trim and door panels (no speaker holes) and original early window winders. Comes with original tan vinyl door top trim and the black ones in the picture. The engine is a 1969 911t with nice webers and new muffler and heat exchangers. I have the certificate of authenticity for the 1966, says it was originally gulf blue and came with a Webasto gasoline heater option which is still in the "smuggler's box”. Nice 5.5 inch steel Porsche wheels, hubcaps and tires or choice of original style 4.5 inch wheels with tires (5 wheels and 4 good tires total) either 4.5 or the 5.5 that are seen in the pictures. The odometer shows just shy of 80,000 and I believe that it may be correct for this car. Great restoration project or vintage racer candidate. Restored wood dash set now included with the car. Rare color combination of Gulf Blue with tan interior.

The bad points: There is some rust in battery area which doesn't appear to have penetrated to the suspension mount below, passenger side jack point area and surrounding rocker has rust perforation and the driver's side area below the rear torsion bar mount. A few more minor rust areas are present but the body is basically sound. No carpet. An original wood steering is not included in the auction unless it goes over $7500 (pictures of the steering wheel available by request). The engine hasn't been run in 10 years so may need a rebuild, although it and the carbs move easily (not frozen or seized). The engine and transmission were swapped around 1970 so the ones that came with this car originally are gone. Cracked windshield, bad paint (silver blue) over origial gulf blue."

    Winning bid: US $3,001.00
    Sale date: Nov-23-06
Notes: "You are bidding on 1966 Porsche 911. Car was not sold and titled until 1968 so it has a 1968 title. Car disassembled for paint. Original color was light ivory. Car has a 1970 911T 2.2 liter engine with Zenith carburetors. We rolled the engine over so it is not frozen. This car has been sitting since 2000. Under close inspection we found no rust or rot (surface rust) at all in the front support and battery tray area. Longitude panels are perfect and in original shape. Floor pan has the original undercoating coming off. The are some dents and dings in the floor pan but the floor pan is in complete and original condition. Bottoms of doors have no rust anywhere as are front and rear fenders. There are two areas in the rear of the car which show that the car has been bumped once before. Some repairs are noticeable in the rear, this is the only sign of an accident on the car (see photos). After a magnet test the only place we found any Bondo or plastic body filler is in the nose of the front hood and the left rear quarter panel. Wood dash. Also shows the optional fog light switch which means the car originally came with fog lights. Most of the interior pieces seem to be here. As are taillights turn signals headlights and even a pair of old fog lights. We do not know the condition of the engine. We were told it was a running car when it was parked."

Notes: Engine # 909091, Color number 6602; "You are looking at a beautiful 1966 Porsche 911 finished in its original Polo Red color. It has a 5 speed with a short shifter kit. Engine is the original 2.0 6 cyl. with Weber 40's not Zeniths. Car is straight with no evidence of previous damage anywhere. This car is my daily driver and it is bullet proof. Euro turn signals, H4 EURO Headlamps, original Fuchs. The front passenger side marker assembly is missing, as seen on pics, but I do have it and it does come included with the car. Also, I have the door panels, and are included although not shown. I do not however find the armrests; if I do find them they will be included. Carbs were completely rebuilt, front discs replaced, front calipers rebuilt, new brake pump, new pads. This is a solid, straight car that can be turned into perfection with little time and expense. It has some rust bubbles which I have pictured for you. The worst of it is at the pedals, (please see pic). and it was patched on the front pan, so for a nice resto I would really recommend it replaced, the car is worth it.The tranny shifts perfect, but it does whine, mostly on 4-5. engine is strong, no smoke, and sounds beautiful. It does have a leak on one of the headers. Needs speedometer cable, tacho not working, its shorting somewhere and when connected car turns off. All other gauges working properly and accurately. Front windshield has new rubber, but it needs the rubbers on the doors. Floor boards are in great shape."

Notes: "1966 Porsche 911 coupe. VIN 303563 engine # 903696, Original color was white it is now primer. Interior is black vinyl. The inteior is complete and undistubed. It has a factory wood steering wheel. The wood trim on the dash is complete but should have a new coat of varnish. It has the five guage instrument cluster, Blaupunkt AM/FM/SW, and a gas heater. It has 103,989 miles. We have service records back to 36,000 miles, much of the work was done by Leesburg Import service in VA. The engine turns over but we did not attempt to run it. The body has some rust and is now in primer. A restoration was started, some of the rust cut out, there is some plastc filler. The left fender has a rust hole at the heel and a patch at the top rear. Left door has a solid bottom and no indication of rust. The left quarter panel has a cut out around the jack stirrup where rust was removed, the latch striker post has a rust hole and a bondo repair at the base. The engine lid looks good. The right rear quarter appears to be solid there is some bondo at the base of the latch striker pillar. The right door is solid and has a good bottom. The right fender has a rust hole in the heel and is soft behind the parking lamp. The front lid has no kinks and appears to have no rust. The pan has some rust holes, see photos, but can probably be saved. All in all it is a relatively solid car with a good service history. A few weekends of your free time......... Plan on picking up the car"

Notes: "1968 Porsche 911 Targa Hard Window Rolling Chasis. 80,000 original miles on the car when the engine and transmission were removed two years ago. The car is complete, less the following items - engine, trans, one head rest and targa top.

I will try to tell as much about the car as I know. It was owned by a doctor in VA for most of it's life and is a very nice project car. I thought about parting it out, but it has alot more life in it than that.

I bought the car to restore it, but a new baby does not allow time. This 68' is in nice condition for its age. It shows rust in the usual places - floors and around the window seals, as well as a bit of surface bubbling on one door that would be very easy to grind out. The body is very straight in generally in very nice shape. I have tried to show the panels as best I can in the pictures. There are a few dings to bang out. The car orignally had a speedomatic transmission and was sold by the previous owner with the engine. I intended to put in a newer larger motor.

The floors pans will need replacing and I would do some general clean up of rust on the under side of the car. It has a decent paint job on it (its second one) but it will need a repaint to be a nice restoration (the pictures show the quality of the last paint job) as there are areas of rust around the Targa rear window that were surface ground to stop the rust from spreading prior to going into storage.

The interior is red leather with red carpet. It is in decent shape and there dash and door panels appear to just need a good cleaning. I would restuff or recover the seats and replace the aluminum accent piece on the dash. Other than that, the pictures show what the car is about.

The exterior chrome is very nice and the car has new tires. All four moon hub caps are in place. The rims are straight, but have some rust and could use a re-chrome.

This car is far from perfect, but is a nice clean restorable car wtih low miles and a clear title. "

    VIN Number: 305229
    Winning bid: US $8,800.00

    Notes: "Description:

    Interior:

All body trim and fasteners on the car appear to be original.

The interior looks like it is all original and never removed from the car. The upholstery is supple and has no rips or tears. Door panels, dash, headliner are very nice. Original radio is still in the car. The interior only requires a good cleaning and conditioning to look very good. Certainly worthy for keeping as “original with patina“. The carpeting (perlon) is not worth saving and is quite inexpensive to replace.

    Exterior:

The color is Irish Green which is also the original color. The interior is “off-white” (I don’t know the original name for this color). Very original car except for a lousy paint job by previous owner. There is no evidence of any accidents underneath the car. The car has the incorrect front bumper but I have the correct steel bumper (w/o any trim pieces) that will go with the car. There is very little rust visible from the exterior of the car. I do not see any evidence of this car being “bondo’d” up in the past. There are some rust spots on the exterior such as on the rear quarter right in front of the signal housing on top of the bumper. There are some small spots on the front fender where it mounts to the cowl. And a small spot on the front of the hood. All the inner fold edges of the doors, trunk, and engine lid are clean and free of bondo.

    Structure:

The car drives straight.and the door gaps are good which indicates that the shell is still quite rigid and in-spec. The floor pans and suspension pan will need to be replaced. These are in bad shape. The front pan was repaired very poorly ( fiberglass %&^%) by the previous owner. Replacing a front pan is not an uncommon repair on a 911 of this vintage. All parts are readily available from Porsche Specialists. The floors can be patched, but complete new floors would be nice. The bottom of at least one lock post will require rust repair. There may be more rust that is not visible at this time although the car is clean enough that upon close inspection everything is visible. However, don’t be surprised to find some more rust when you start cutting and stripping the body. I am only stating this so that the buyer is fully aware of the possibilities as is the case with any restoration. I do not want to under-describe the car as I want the buyer to be happy with the purchase. I own many old Porsches and in my opinion this shell is worth saving. As an “amateur restorer” with enough 911 experience, I think that car is well within reach of the hard core hobbyist/ restorer. Certainly a great car for someone able to weld and body bodywork.

    Engine/ Drivetrain:

The correct 2.0 Liter engine has been rebuilt with new rings, bearing, chains, chain rails, tensioners, valve job, clutch, etc.etc. The Webers are very nice and have been serviced. Engine starts and runs just fine, but there appears to be a small oil leak for which I have not looked for honestly. There also appears to be a leak near the oil tank which could be a hose connection. I think that these can be addressed when the car gets restored as everything will most likely be taken off the car for reconditioning. The engine should still be broken in properly. All sheet metal was sandblasted and repainted and also the heat exchangers. Mileage since rebuild is less than 200 miles! Just some local driving to sort the engine out. Exact mileage with a car of this vintage is hard to determine. Gas tank is rusty and should be replaced. There are several temporary fuel filters installed to keep the carbs clean so that the car can be driven as is.

The 5 speed dog-leg gearbox has been rebuilt by a Porsche specialist and shift very nice. Also less than 200 miles.

    Missing:

Original toolkit. I have the original service manual with dealer sale stamp, and owners manual.

    Disclaimer:

This is NOT an “S” version and it does not have the “S” gauges. This is a project car that will require at least a partial restoration."
