Don't think so Mike. From memory up the black burnt out one was said to be one of the very few grey imported to USA, if memory serves me right

    Seller's Description:

    - 7700 kms since total restoration by RUF
    - Canary Yellow with Green script
    - Black Interior
    - Left Hand Drive
    - 72,000 Miles

This magnificient example chassis 1354 has originally been built as a Touring in 1973 and had two owners in Germany until it was sold in 1989 to a very well known collector in Belgium. Being extremely demanding on the quality of his cars he brought the Carrera RS to Ruf Automobiles in 1990 to receive a nut and bolt restoration which lasted two years.

During the process the car was modified into Lightweight specifications. The restoration file shows how deep was the work carried on and only a handful of 911s received a premium quality restoration as to this one. 1354 only ran 7000km since and is in immaculate condition, 20 years on it is a real tribute to the work performed at RUF. The car was slightly upgraded on the suspension and engine, this is the very best driving 2,7RS we have ever driven.

This is a real opportunity to acquire a RUF restored and enhanced Carrera RS with all the surrounding driving pleasure and top quality to expect from them.

Comes with a Complete History of Restoration, including Photos and invoices

    Auction Description (Translation to English):

    - One of the first 500 homologation models!
    - Munich delivery!

This Carrera RS, chassis # 0235, was built in December 1972 and is one of the 500 Homologations models, which were built with extra thin sheet metal to push the homologation weight as possible. He was ordered over the Mahag in Munich, according to the reference work of Dr. med. Konradsheim in signal yellow with sports seats with headrests, a limited slip differential, heated rear window and 3-point safety belts. Delivery is self-pickup without conservation specified.

During the 1980s, the RS moved to Mönchengladbach to Horst Derkum. He is no stranger in the Porsche world, as he is regarded as a luminary in the construction of racing cars, which maintained a private racing team for years and successfully. Around 1990, the Porsche came from one specialist to the next. Esben Kraen had heard of the RS at Horst Derkum and he managed to buy the car and to bring to Denmark. Immediately, he began with a restoration that would take four years and at the end of which was a result that still bears witness to the quality of the work today. Esben Kraen enjoyed his # 0235 for 20 years and participated in numerous events throughout Europe until he finally sold it to a friend.
Already in early years, the RS had suffered an engine failure and got two times a replacement housing of the correct type 911/83. The former was not to get tight and the latter put aside and still unused the car today, provided by the manufacturer with the original number. The currently installed engine is based on a 911/81 magnesium housing and was prepared by Esben Kraen for his RS.

Everything has already been said about the Carrera RS. He fills books as well as dreams. This copy was in the hands of the best Porsche connoisseurs for decades and was restored by one for itself. Since then, a lot has changed, especially the desirability of these athletes. This early homologation model will spoil the new owner. Jump in and have fun or patience and make him look like he did in 1972.

In the Porsche world of 1973 RS’s there are few names that bring nothing but in respect, Dick Moran is that name. Dick’s a southern California collector that believed in the 1973 RS’s long before everyone jumped on the band wagon and 20 years ago started to assemble a collection of them in one every color. Some color were rarer than others and simply couldn’t be found, the color you see here is one of them Raspberry as they only made 4 in this color. The colors he couldn’t find he would just change. Dick would take a common color say white and restore in the color he needed such as this car in Raspberry. Dick had hoarded every NOS part he could find over the years and only bought the best, rust free, un damaged example RS’s out there for his collection. I remember in the early 2000’s when Road Scholars was just getting started an all original back RS showed up in Mexico on eBay. We were bidding on it for a client when I got a call from an old timer in the Porsche world saying “forget it, you’ll never out bid him he wants it! and my reply was we’ll see. We did see, he was correct! In those days a 1973 RS was a $75,000 car and Dick out bid me and got the car for $180,000 then restored it! I saw the car a few years later when he finished the restoration and it was flawless, simply amazing! We purchased this example 5 or 6 years ago for one of our great collectors when Dick started thinning the heard. The example here was done by the same group of restoration shops in southern California a most of his others. Carrera 6 handled body, chassis, interior, and details while Scott’s Independent handled the drivetrain. This example has had very few miles since restoration and performs flawlessly. I don’t know what magic Scott’s did to the engine but its tuned flawlessly and simply the best performing RS I’ve had the pleasure to drive. The detail on this car is amazing, everything fits perfectly and performs better! Hell the wheel wells are even wrapped in clear bra to keep them flawless when you drive it. Simply the best restored 911RS we’ve had the pleasure of owning!

His best cars were restored by Nate Cantwell in NH. He switched to collecting homologation cars, as well as R's.

The Tangerine RS looks great without side script. Would be fun to crawl around this car and really check it out. This RS does beg for a set of CN36 tires, surprising the guys at Road Scholars haven't put a set on. I'm sure this would be included in the "Canepa Difference".

    Touche Brian!

I bet Canepa wouldn’t have forgotten the air box connector jubilee clip either. Tut tut.

This one was exactly a year ago for sale in Belgium and in private hands. I guess it did not sell then at 1.15M €. Not sure what happened to the engine, first picture from a year ago..looks nicer IMHO.
