that is all great information. Good luck with continuing to hunt down the history of your car. It is surprising to me how many of the Irish rallying RS's have survived and are still around. (i think it would be a surprise to many just how many there were).

Maybe it is worth a separate thread.

Which ones were at Hedingham? I think I saw a photo of Mark Warings AUI 1500 (RS #1501) and the ex Dessie McCartney GIA 7200 (RS#0964). Is that the two? Wasn't PGF270L there as well? that, if i am not mistaken, is #0446 which ran on those plates for Regie Mc Spappen and later as KOI 17 for Derek Boyd.

The ex Curley, and O'Kane, GIA 444 (RS #0495) is alive and well out here in Australia and I have heard rumors that another ex Irish RS may be here as well although I have not been able to find / identify it.

I am sure that there are at least three more ex Irish rally cars there is the UK, maybe more when i think about it. I think it definitely is worth a thread unless there is already one here

    Regards

    Auction Description:

Chassis 0615 was manufactured in February 1973 and delivered new to Belgium on the 29th May in Light Ivory (colour code 1111) with Black leather (code 16) which was only available on the M472 model rather than the more common leatherette. This matching numbers example, with engine number 6630587 and gearbox number 7830607 was totally restored in 2012 by a well known European specialist and this 2.7 RS is now identical as when it left the factory in 1973. Purchased by the vendor in 2012, with the current mileage showing only 7,500km since restoration this is a truly original, collector's piece that is ready for its new custodian.

    Auction Description:

Chassis number 9113600235 was built to Touring specification and is a rare and highly sought after "early 500" true homologation car. The vehicle is built in the thinner metal and is as close as you will get to an actual lightweight without sacrificing the comfort of the touring interior. The car was delivered new in Germany in December 1972 and, according to factory records, detailed in the Carrera RS book by Dr. Gruber and Dr. Konradsheim, was delivered with electrically heated & tinted rear window (M102), limited-slip differential (M220), head rest left and right (M258), sport seats, Recaro (M409), shoulder lap belts, auto-retractable (M549).

The vehicle spent its life in Germany until it was imported into Denmark in 1988 by a recognized Porsche specialist as his private purchase. #235 then became subject to a three year full restoration with the purpose of preparing the car for long-term ownership. And so he did. The Porsche specialist entered the car in multiple events in Germany, Austria, UK, Sweden and Spain. His work stood the test of time, and just to mention one result the car and driver won the 2004 Porsche Parade handling competition at the Catalunya F1 circuit, Barcelona, Spain amongst 350 participating cars.

After 26 years in his ownership #235 was passed on to the current owner. The car has been well maintained and runs very well as a result. A skilled RS-specialist (with 16 full RS restorations and a high number of RS inspections in the books) concludes that #235 is among the best kept chassis he has come across. *As a gesture to its rarity, and underlining how this car is built to be used and enjoyed, the car runs a 2.7 magnesium block, type 911/81, while the rare original and unused RS-block (type 911/83 - #6630259) is spared and follows the car.

Several valuable and sought after collectibles come with the car including an original tool set, the Carrera RS book by Dr. Thomas Gruber and Dr. Georg Konradsheim, the original Porsche magazine" Christopherus" issue no. 119 from November 1972 (with the first article about the RS introduction) and the original 1972 Porsche Carrera RS sales brochure as well as other magazines from the time of launch.

Silverstone Auctions can report that this RS drives as it should and represents a rare opportunity to purchase an iconic 911 - in an even rarer early 500 edition - ready to use and enjoy.

Nice car with a few not entirely correct details but ridiculous that they say the original block is unused! Doubt that after purchase the block was removed just for preservation, no way, these cars were driven!

    Perhaps unused after a rebuild?

Hi Guys, relatively new here so I hope I am posting this in the right section. Recently bought a barn find RS, VIN. 911 360 1576 with engine number 663 1537. It is a lilac (royal purple) RHD RS touring in need of full restoration as it sat in a carport for more than 15 years. According to my findings it is the last RHD RS ever produced, can somebody confirm this?
    Thanks

    Hi Rikard

you are correct that this is the highest serial number RS. I may not have been the last one built because they were not built in strict order purely due to the production process and there was a yellow RHD one #1560 that came to Australia that was built around about the same time.

can i ask which country it was found in as there was a post about this car, or more accurately its aluminium engine lid, which at least a short time ago (2009) was in the UK. It had apparently been a ducktail delete car and the engine lid together with the rear wiper mechanism had been removed according to this postin the mid 70's and had been on top of the original owners wardrobe for most of the time since. The person who posted bought it and it is still apparent in as new condition

at that time the cars whereabouts was unknown but had last been heard of in trinidad/ tobago
