    Dealer Description:

This is the first M472 “Touring” series (lighter thanks to its very thin sheet of 0.8mm). It is chassis # 192 of the 500 cars produced to homologate the 2.7 RS in Group 4 competition. This magnificent Porsche 2.7 RS Touring was delivered new to Germany on 03rd January 1973. A very nice article retracing the history of this car was published in the famous magazine "Flat Six". The car is 100% Matching, 100% restored and in new condition. The total restoration was carried out in 2015 at Marc De Siebenthal (Meca Components) - Porsche specialist based in Switzerland. All invoices and pictures relating to the restoration and all the work carried out in recent years are available on request.

    Dealer Description:

    - Well-equipped German delivery with original service book
    - Outstandingly documented from new
    - Extensive maintenance by official Porsche dealer

The 911 Carrrera RS 2.7 Touring we are offering here is chassis 911 360 0275 with engine 6630288 and transmission 7830250, a desirable and sought-after first series example of which just 500 units were produced. This actual car was built new for the German market and tagged with shipping code « 5 », which meant un-waxed and collected directly from the factory. 911 360 0275 was ordered by official dealer E. Strähle on 4th November 1972 for its first owner Mr Helmut Möhrle of Stuttgart and delivered new to him on the 17th of January 1973. Two days later it was registered with S-AS 5433 number plates. The original specifications of the car were special order colour Grand Prix White with red script (code 2225) and Sports seats, both left and right (409). Additional factory options included headrests for both seats (258), retractable shoulder belts for both conductor and passenger (419), retractable left antenna with loudspeaker (440) and finally the desirable electric sliding sunroof (650), a rather unusual feature for the German market. The car still remains, as of today, unchanged from all its original specifications.

Mr Möhrle will enjoy 911 360 0275 for the next 6 years and then sell it to Mr Bernd Kramer, also from the Stuttgart region. The car subsequently briefly changed into the hands of two further documented German owners, before being acquired by enthusiast Wolfram Otto Reuter from Frankfurt in 1981. The car will remain his property for nearly a decade, until it will be sold to Mr Wilhelm Holzenthal of Westerburg in 1990 who will have a light restoration performed including a repaint in the original colour. He will not keep the car long and sell the next year to French collector from Strasbourg, Dr Matthias Wagner. During that time of its life, 911 360 0275 will be exhibited at an official Porsche dealership for almost 10 years and driven only sparingly. In 1999 Dr Wagner will sell the 2.7 RS to Swedish collector Mr Christian Lépée of Stockholm who will keep the car for 5 years. In 2003 the car is then sold to its second last owner Mr Andreas Kainer of Neustadt in Austria. 911 360 0275 will remain in his collection until 2011.

Since then, 911 360 0275 belongs to a German enthusiast who has cared for it with no expenses spared whatsoever. The car was meticulously serviced and improved on a yearly basis at either the Porsche dealership in Munich or the factory in Stuttgart. This also included a brake system overhaul in 2011 as well as a transmission rebuild in 2014 and totaled 55.000 EUR of expenses. The car has been cherished in the best possible way and comes with an outstanding history file which includes:

    – Original delivery documents from E. Strähle to first owner on January 1973
    – Original sales brochure
    – Original service book to this car
    – Original owner’s handbook, 2,7 RS addendum and tools
    – Copy of the original factory order form and modification form
    – Period sales contracts
    – Copy of the original German brief
    – Period correspondences
    – Original Swedish documents
    – Original Austrian brief
    – Limited first edition Konradsheim Carrera RS book with the matching number ‘0275’
    – FIVA Identity card
    – Full 2018 Deuschle report, known to be one of the most demanding experts for the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 model
    – Large set of invoices by Porsche official dealer

911 360 0275 represents the exceedingly rare opportunity to acquire a great Carrera RS 2.7 with continuous history from new, supplied with an exceptional history file and ready for immediate enjoyment. German registration.

I spent about an hour looking 460 over. I looked at pictures, and wanted to compare real world to pictures. I didn’t spend a lot of effort on body fit and finish, but on mechanicals and assembly. Two areas where I focus are knowledge of builder and workmanship.
16” wheels, looked like 8” in front, had already started pulling front fender lip.
No protective undercoat in front fenders.
    Boxter front brakes.
    9x16 rear wheels.
    Engine seal not properly installed.
Pressure fed tensioners, on 911/83 engine (74 I think) with serial number machined off. Intake preheater foil hose missing. Late oil tank w/filter on tank. Oil leak at rear of engine like seal or nose bearing Oring.
Trans not matching and no way to tell if oil pump installed.
Front trunk a mess. Support clamp for fuel filler pipe missing. Late front latch panel with drains.

WOW, as Gordon said, poor workmanship and lack of knowledge.

I looked at "460" as well but there were just too many things wrong or inconsistent. It could be seen as a fun "drivers" car that could be thrashed but I struggled putting a value on it. Bidding in the room hit $450k... with buyers premium $500k but I was offered the car for $500k after the auction so I believe some of the "bidders" were not legit.

I am still searching for my car :-)

For records and anybody that might find it useful... here is my list of issues (added some from above posters - thank you) and some other photos I received of the car:

    1. Incorrect seat belts (non-original material)
    2. Dead pedal installed (non-original)
    3. Boxster brakes (but originals come with the car)
    4. Different battery installed (but could likely be reversed)
    5. Radio specÂ’d from factory but missing (even though antenna and speaker are fitted)
    6. Incorrect oil tank fitted
    7. Toolkit shown but missing items
    8. Manual probably a reprint, missing other manuals
    9. Missing purchase documentation and history file
    10. Missing Pflegepass
    11. Non-original engine
    12. Non-original transmission
    13. Non-original interior
    14. Non-original seats
    15. Lid replaced
    16. Rocker panels replaced
    17. Headlight switch wrong for the car
    18. Rear window switch wrong for the car
    19. Cigarette lighter wrong for the car
    20. Stickers on the stalks wrong for the car
    21. Clock is incorrect version
    22. Missing multiple labels (for instance, two missing on slam panel)
    23. Fuel tank hold downs incorrect
    24. Incorrect carpet in frunk (material and cut)
    25. Modifications to engine (pre-tensioners, not a 73?)
    26. Missing photos from before and during restoration to document condition
    27. Missing ownership history
    28. Missing maintenance history
    29. Drilled hole in front oil radiator blank
    30. Front fender lip started pulling
    31. No protective undercoat in front fenders
    32. Incorrect wheels
    33. Engine seal not properly installed
    34. Intake pre-heater foil missing
    35. Oil leak at rear of engine
    36. Support clamp for fuel filler pipe missing
    37. Incorrect front latch panel with drains
    38. Missing support clamp for inner fender
