    Dealer Description:

First registered on the 26th June 1973, Chassis #1428 was ordered new as an M472 Touring model, with the following factory specification:
    Country (116) – West Germany
Colour Code (222512) – Grand Prix White w. Red
    Conversion – M472 (Touring)
Option (102) – Heated Rear Window, Two-Stage Tinted
Option (409) – Sports Seats Left & Right
Option (419) – Retractable Rear Belts Left & Right
Option (458) – Round Iodine Fog Lights, White, Below Bumper)
The car’s first registered owner is recorded in the original log book (which is still with the car today) as “Sitzmann und Heinlein” – a German plastics manufacturer based in Zirndorf.
Interestingly, this company still exists today, but is now called Heinlein Plastik-Technik.
We don’t know for sure which member of the Heinlein family the car was ordered for, but whoever it was, it’s clear that they intended to properly use it! Just look at the original service book stamps:
    Date Service Centre Mileage (km)
10/07/1973 Autohaus Herbst, Nümberg 359 km
06/03/1974 Autohaus Herbst, Nümberg 9,428 km
06/08/1974 Autohaus Herbst, Nümberg 19,715 km
17/04/1975 Autohaus Herbst, Nümberg 30,700 km
24/11/1975 Autohaus Herbst, Nümberg 39,000 km
27/04/1977 Autohaus Herbst, Nümberg 51,733 km
02/02/1978 Autohaus Herbst, Nümberg 60,653 km
21/09/1978 Autohaus Herbst, Nümberg 70,350 km
    14/04/1980 V.A.G GeorgBreitschwerto, Ansbach 79,405 km
    23/06/81 V.A.G GeorgBreitschwerto, Ansbach 91,062 km
It’s interesting to note that the change in Service Centres from Nümberg to Ansbach in 1978 perfectly coincides with the Sitzmann und Heinlein company relocation in that same year. The factory was moved from Zirndorf (just outside Nümberg) to Ansbach – it seems the car went with it!
Having clocked up the best part of 100,000km in what must be the best company car ever, the Heinlein family sold #1428 to a fellow Ansbach resident, Mr Uwe Ott in June 1984.
Mr Ott commissioned a full engine rebuild the following year at none other than Manfred Krämer Porsche in Bad Wurzach, Germany.
After enjoying his newly rebuilt engine for a few more years, Ott sold #1428 to Mr Wolfgang Liedtke of Speyer, Germany in December 1988, who would go on to register the car in the UK the following month.
Wearing it’s new UK registration, UMC 209L, the car was imported to the UK via Howard Wise in early 1989, shortly before being sold to its fourth owner, Mrs Glenda Hydleman of Earls Court, London.
Having covered only around 10,000km since it’s engine rebuild at Krämer in 1985, Mrs Hydleman wasted no time in commissioning further restoration works at Camtune in Surrey and Streber in Devon, including:
    Brake system overhaul
    Bare metal respray
Engine strip down, clean and reassembly
With the car now looking and driving brilliantly, Mrs Hydleman would enjoy #1428 for the next year and a half, before selling it to Christopher Banks in Bristol.
Banks would keep the car for the next 6 years, clocking up less than 5,000km in that time.
The next chapter of the car’s life would begin in 1996, when it was purchased by a German baron via Autofarm in Oxfordshire.
Included in the purchase negotiation was a whole list of recommissioning and restoration works, as well as a conversion from ‘Touring’ to ‘Lightweight’ specification, including:
    Fibreglass front & rear bumpers
    Period correct lightweight seats
    Lightweight carpets and trim
    Lightweight door cards
    Lightweight spare wheel
    Momo steering wheel
    Saftey harnesses
    Red to Blue ‘Carrera’ decals
Following the restoration works at Autofarm, the car was registered with the FIA and then taken back to Germany, where it also received a Deuvet vehicle passport.
The first major event the car took part in was the 1997 Tour Auto, driven by the owner and his wife:
Over the next 7 years, the owner would continue to enjoy the car back in Germany, taking it on regular tours and events with his friends and family.
Then in 2004, in preparation for yet another Tour Auto (#1428’s second entry, and the owner’s seventh!), the car was entrusted to Hans Hellmick, Wuppertal, for a full and extensive engine rebuild.
The list of works carried out is comprehensive, but some notable items were a new crankcase, new pistons and cylinders and an increase in compression ratio from 8.5:1 to 9.0:1.
The car again performed beautifully, and was even driven around Spa by none other than Derek Bell!
Over the next 15 years, the car remained in Germany as part of the owner’s larger collection, being regularly used and properly maintained.
It was then acquired by it’s current owner in 2019 with around 45,000km on the clock (~20,000km since ’04 engine rebuild).
Again, the car has been regularly used and well maintained since then, now showing just over 50,000km on the odometer.
    WHAT WE THINK
This is the perfect car for someone who actually wants use it. This is not a garage queen.
It drives superbly, and the twin pipe exhaust sounds absolutely phenomenal. The steering feel is unparalleled, and the performance is genuinely impressive, even by today’s standards.
Since being with us in Bicester, we commissioned Jtek Auto to perform a full dry ice clean of the underside and engine bay, so the car now presents wonderfully. Please look through the full gallery of images below to see more.
A digital copy of the car’s history file is available on request. Please enquire for more.

Okay, that increases my interest. From the website description in can’t quite understand if they are saying the engine and transmission are matching “type” or matching “numbers.” I’m beyond busy with work, but I’ll check when I get a chance.

    Auction Description:

    - Offered from The Carrera Collection
    - One of 1,308 examples specified in the roadgoing M472 Touring configuration
    - Retains its matching-numbers chassis, engine and, gearbox
    - Presented in its factory-correct colour combination of Light Yellow over black
    - A handsome example of one of Stuttgart’s most celebrated 911 iterations

Retaining its matching-numbers chassis, engine, and gearbox and presented in its factory-correct colour scheme, this arresting Carrera RS is a particularly intoxicating example of the celebrated Stuttgart homologation special. According to factory data kept on file, chassis number 9113601062 was ordered in the M472 Touring guise, equipped with a limited-slip differential, and finished in Light Yellow paint over a black leatherette interior. The early third-series Carrera RS was then sold in April 1973 to a German customer through the Glöckler dealership in Frankfurt am Main. Marque enthusiasts will no doubt recognize this as the dealership owned by Walter Glöckler, the racecar builder and privateer driver whose Porsche-based racing cars gave birth to the 550 Spyder legend.

Although this 2.7’s intermediary history is unknown, by 2011 it was owned by an enthusiast based in Switzerland, and within a few years the car passed joined The Carrera Collection. In April 2016, the Carrera RS was appraised by the respected marque expert Christian Kramer, and in his positive assessment he notes that the car retains the matching-numbers engine and gearbox while benefitting from a restoration conducted just a few years earlier.

The Carrera continues to evidence the beautiful results of the restoration, including the renewal of the original factory colour combination of Light Yellow paintwork over a black leatherette interior (one of the era’s most iconic Porsche liveries), with houndstooth seat inserts. Sure to strike the fancy of any Stuttgart enthusiast, this handsome Carrera RS 2.7 would make a superb addition to any sports car collection, ideal for display at finer concours d’elegance or enjoyment of its thrilling performance on the open road.

    1973 Porsche 2.7L 911 Carrera RS Touring 0172 - Tangerine 10.jpg

    Auction Description:

    - Offered from The Carrera Collection
    - The 172nd of first 500 “first series” Carrera RS 2.7 examples produced
    - Has resided in Switzerland since new; equipped with desirable Recaro seats
    - An excellent example of one of Porsche’s most desirable homologation 911s
    - Powered by its matching-numbers engine, as confirmed by accompanying Kardex

Completed at Zuffenhausen in December 1972, the example offered here is the 172nd of these first 500 “first series” Carrera RS 2.7 examples produced. Its accompanying Kardex sheet confirms that it was delivered new to Switzerland wearing Tangerine paintwork, and fitted with the matching-numbers 2.7-litre Type 911/83 engine that it retains today. This earlier “first series” Carrera 2.7 received a body shell manufactured from a lighter gauge sheet metal (0.80 millimetres), compared to the later-production series cars that were built using 0.88-millimetre thickness steel.

While little is known about its early life, this eminent Carrera RS is believed to have been registered in Switzerland since new. A previous 1987 Swiss registration on file notes that this Carrera RS then resided in Zürich, and a few years later it passed to a Porsche collector in nearby Thalwil. While with its previous owner, it was subjected to over CHF 34,000 of mechanical servicing at Porsche Centre Thalwil, which included the resurfacing and rehoning of its major engine components (block, heads, case), and well as an accompanying engine rebuild.

At some point during the interceding decades of Swiss ownership the car (and its Fuchs wheels) had been refinished in the period shade of Bahia Red, and it was this colour that Carrera RS 172 still wore when it entered into The Carrera Collection in September 2012.

As the 911 has endured through to present-day production, it is clear that there will always be a special place in Porsche history for this first competition-based homologation model. The Carrera RS, undoubtedly the most desirable model of air-cooled 911s, is nothing short of legendary.

    Dealer Description:

    - No Sunroof!
    - Huge history file available!
    - Only 2 previous owner!

This two owner from new example has the most exceptional history. The first owner Mr Edmund Bauthier a wealthy Belgium Industrialist & Entrepreneur had connections at the factory (Baron Von Hanstein, Race Dept. Director) and he requested the car be built to his own personal requirements. Initially the car was destined to be built as M471 Lightweight but Mr Bauthier changed his mind at the very last minute. He did not want the M471 lightweight seats as they would be to uncomfortable when he went touring. The order was changed to M472 and specified options were Recaro Sports seat, a full black leather interior (including dash top), no sun roof and manual windows.

The engine was hand picked from the production line by his friend Baron Von Hanstein (Race Dept. Director) and the car was delivered to the main French Porsche dealership Son Auto (Paris). It had been hoped the car would be ready for the 1972 Paris Motor Show but due to the late alteration of the options the car delivery was delayed until the end of November, about 4 weeks after the show and the Carrera RS’s debut appearance to the world press and the public. Mr Bauthier’s stable consisted of a Ferrari Daytona and Maserati Merak the the Carrera RS and he always choose the RS as his weapon of choice for his logn road trips.

This car is from the first 150 cars produced and it is a largely unknown fact that these very early cars (first 150) were produced to a higher specifiaction with extra strengthening to the gearbox tunnel and a superior quality fibreglass ducktail. Mr Bauthier owned the car until 1985 which is when Kevin purchased the car and has owned the car ever since.

The car has never been in an accident or damaged with the only exception of when Mr Bauthier was driving through the Swiss Alps and a snow chain came loose, this caused a few minor scratches and marks to the right rear wheel arch. The car has always been garaged and is believed to be one of the most original surviving examples of the Marque.

We have carried out a very sympathetic restoration and our brief as always was to maintain the integrity and originality of this iconic car. The car did not require any major rust repairs, all the floors, kidney bowls, wings, doors, ducktail etc are all the original items and the car has its original service books, tool kit and spare wheel gas compressor. As well as this the car has a huge history file from day one of it’s purchase up until the present day.
