Even more details added to the thread which are very interesting.

What exactly has the new owner purchased for an enormous price and what details of this story did the seller reveal (or even know).

    Regards

    "Described by the vendor"

Is that some small print get out of jail free card that the auction company can stand behind with out doing any independent due diligence?

SCM has run an article on the H&H car.

I know that statistical data can be tweaked to get the "end game" one wishes. It goes on all the time in politics. Thank goodness for the sleuths here that vet out cars like this. SCM would be wise to dig deeper before charging into the breach like sales people drumming up business are prone to do.

In this regard, while Bruce Anderson may have been slow on the uptick, he hit it squarely on the head with regard to the peak of 2008. Hold outs and those who bought at the topping may not be happy but that's life.

A good friend confided in me that he was very happy that he didn't have a car that required him to find a buyer for at the loftier prices. They aren't there. Fringe collectors (like a lot of us) are Unicorns.

    Hi Cees,

Yes, quite a few Carreras for sale there. At Essen there were several for sale also. I think of three that were very nice. One black at PS Auto, a light yellow at Ande Votteler (this was the best one by far), and a very striking Jade Green car which is listed on the list you have.

The Jade Green was very nicely restored from a very rough condition. The color is so wild. It was very cool to see it in person but not sure I could look at in the garage all the time. It was very expensive also. The light yellow car is a third series, very original car from Japan. The best documented RS I have ever seen from Japan. I don't know the price on that one.

I didn't see the Coys RS up close but am interested to see if it sold and at what price. The 916 sold for 235K Euro without buyer's premium I understand.

It does seem the number for a restored #1 RS touring is in the $315k to $340k USD price category.

Seems this RS (1364) did not sell at Essen but recently sold another Coys auction for 162K € incl. buyers premium.
