Very attractive. Is it possible that anyone on Early S doesn't realize that all this "lightweight construction" blather does NOT apply to any RS built this late? I realize it's a sales pitch but it gets old.

Yes, they would be much better off concentrating on the rarer later features which may or may not be fitted to this car such as the shorter rear trailing arms and silumin engine case. That would make it one of about 20 RS’s built towards the end of production but it’s likely the seller is totally unaware of these details (going off the wording of the ad).

Mike, You are so correct. In many regards those last RSs are very special [but obviously you know that!]

    John -

Right you are. Loughran sells all kinds of exotics. It may be unreasonable to expect them to be as smart about the RS as some of us!

why do some of these cars get flipped so often? It seems as if they never get driven, just spend time getting fixed from shop to shop.

    Auction Description:

One of only 4 examples delivered new in France
    • Full matching numbers
    • Highly original and unmolested example
    • Known history from new
    • Believed genuine 248,000 kilometres recorded
    • Exceptionally comprehensive history file

This exceptionally well documented and highly original example was delivered new to France via the official importer, Sonauto (sales invoice on file). It is one of only four French-delivered cars built with the factory sunroof, and left the factory equipped with a Blaupunkt radio, electric windows, jack, tool kit, and tyre compressor, all of which it retains. Very few, and only minor, changes have been made since then. The interior has been upgraded with original (1973) Recaro sports seats, and an electric radio antenna has been fitted in the right front wing. Two front fog lights have been added, a battery cut-out switch installed, and the headlights changed from yellow (France) to clear (EU). The original yellow lights come with the car.

The Carrera RS remained with its first owner, Michele Lecoufle, until 1978, by which time it had covered 119,540 kilometres, while second owner Mr Philippe Bochet kept the Porsche until 1999 at 192,700 kilometres, as confirmed by documents issued by Centre Auto Sécurité. From March 1999 onwards, the car belonged to Mr Denis Mathieu, passing in June 2013 to the current (fourth) owner, a Porsche collector in Austria with 246,655 kilometres recorded. The current odometer reading is circa 248,000 kilometres, and the next technical inspection is due in June 2018.

This car has been thoroughly checked over by 2.7 RS specialists Gaby and Gert Callewaert from Belgium, to whom Bonhams would like to extend its grateful thanks. They inspected the car from top to bottom and were highly complimentary, confirming its originality into the finest detail: 'This is exceptionally rare to find such an untouched and original RS.' In their report (copy on file) it states that 95% of the bodywork consists of factory panels dating from 1973, and that some of the paintwork is still original. The Callewaerts found the car to be clean and well maintained, concluding that it could be 'driven for many years by continuing normal maintenance'.

The car comes complete with its original instruction manuals, service booklet, and Blaupunkt radio instructions; a substantial quantity of service/maintenance bills; a copy of the original sales invoice; the original keys, key code card; and 2 copies (English and German) of the sought-after 2.7 Carrera RS Konradsheim reference book.

Representing a possibly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire one of the last remaining honest and unmolested 2.7 RS Carreras, equipped with the rare and desirable factory sunroof, '1141' is worthy of the closest inspection.
