Yes, just saw that auction featured on What's My Car Worth. The owner claimed the green script was ordered as an option direct from Porsche. That would make it a bit of a rarity since all of the cars other than white (and more specifically Grand Prix White) were supposed to get black decals (don't have "the Bible" at hand to confirm). The side script on the colored cars was an option that not many first owners purchased. I'll have to check.

"Honey, someone shot the RS again."

A friend I met recently at the RS World Meeting sent me information and some photos of this interesting RS that was in Lebanon at some point and unfortunately ended up with some bullet holes in it. It was restored around 2004 and had a color change from Light Ivory to Light Yellow. It is listed for sale for 273.000 Euro.

I am wondering what the significance of the 'M' stamped on the AL VIN tag after the 'F' is all about.

A couple more for the record. My friend passed on the car as the restoration didn't meet up to his standards.

"This matching numbers M472 RS is a one of one car. It was originally ordered 'Paint To Sample' in Signal Green, not to be confused with the more common Viper Green of which 79 cars were painted. Only 15 RS Carreras were built 'Paint To Sample' in varying custom colors and this car is one of those according Dr Konradsheim who literally wrote the 'Carrera RS' book."

So, now that it is Gulf Blue, this is a selling point???

    Tom

PS: "Literally wrote the Carrera RS book" is a hoot!
