I’m aware PCGB stamped chassis number after approving the restoration work which did included the replacement of the upper trunk panel. .... PCGB - Porsche Cars Great Britain.

thx Nick. However that immediately raises a lot of questions of course. Is it a non-RS body with a newly (and badly) stamped RS number, or is it an original RS body with a new upper trunk panel and the original one is still present and with the car.
Given the value of such cars I would personally always prefer to reintegrate the original stamping no matter how bad the upper trunk panel is, but one needs the real body in order to do that of course.
The car sold for 280.000£, which in 'real RS' money is 'cheap'. Engine number was also not correct. Car has electric windows... which it did not have from the factory. That can be installed afterwards of course, but it seems rather unusual that a car would be restored like that in combination with lightweight doorpanels.

Gert, there was significant paperwork regarding the major restoration that Robert G undertook that PCGB reviewed, checked and approved before they stamped the number. Its a shame that a little more time was not spent getting the vin number stamped better ... I'm sure the new owner will speak to RG and get the whole history.

Quite a lot of discussion about this car prior to auction suggesting it was more than just the upper boot panel on close inspection.

That RS was restored multiple years back and while RG is not the most dynamic when it comes to online presence he has changed his site a couple of times since then for sure ...

The welding of the upper panel towards the side panel looks very much like factory welding to me. If that would be the case, then it would be just the number that was restamped.
Without knowing the full story, this looks like a restamped body with a restamped engine. For me the question remains how much "real factory RS DNA" is in that car.

Another video of a Carrera RS posted on Youtube... enjoy.

There’s a reason some RS’s are substantially more expensive - because there aren’t any stories. Pity the person that tries to get a bargain and they basically are buying a data plate or maybe not even that. If you want an RS, be prepared to pay the upper range.
