Thread: 1973 Carrera RS Cars for Sale

I have had general knowledge of this car (58) for several years. Never looked at it to buy it as it has always seemed somewhat inaccessible to me...
In my opinion, it looks very nice, indeed. It has been owned since the 80s by the same CT-based collector who I will not name here. Looked after as needed by Auto Associates during this person's ownership.
It was on display at the Hershey museum last Jan-April as part of their special exhibit on Porsche History. If you saw that exhibit, you have seen this car.
If you have the interest and the means, you should ceratinly talk to Alex to get the details for yourself...

    FS: @Coys Auction - 1973 911 Carrera 2.7L RS

Coys True Greats Auction, 2nd December 2014, Royal Horticultural Halls, Westminster, London
    1973 Porsche 911 2.7L Carrera RS (Lot 425)
    VIN: 9113600975
    Engine: ?
    Trans: ?
    Auction Estimate: No Reserve

    Auction Description:
The Carrera RS is one of the most famous Porsche models ever built and has come over the years to be regarded as one of the top sports cars to emerge from the 1970s. It was designed with ambivalence very much in mind: Porsche's engineers wanted a car that could be successfully used on the race track, yet which at a moment's notice and with no modifications could equally be used for shopping or long distance travel.

The RS (or Rennsport, to give it its German name) was based on the 911S, but used lightened bodywork and a revised 2.7 litre fuel-injected six, the largest engine yet used in a roadgoing Porsche at that time. With a total weight in the region of 950kg and an honest 210bhp-plus on tap, the RS was able to achieve a genuine 158mph, with 60mph from standstill coming up in just over 5 seconds. It was one of the fastest production cars in the world.

Mere figures, however, can never convey the feeling of being at the wheel of one of the most revered members of the 911 family.

9113600975 is an exciting representative of one of the world's most easily recognisable, best loved automotive icons. Supplied new to West Germany in March 1973, this matching engine example is finished in its stunning original colour scheme of Bahia red with a contrasting black Carrera script and black interior boasting original optional equipment of left and right head restraints and retractable seat belts.

The paintwork and interior are in very good condition throughout along with the Fuch wheels with the car being driven on a regular basis, weather permitting, ensuring the car is in good health.

Perhaps the most successful and revered classic Porsches of the last 40 years, this 2.7 RS is offered at no reserve and represents true value in a market where the 2.7 RS has become one of the most sought after and collectible models due to its investment potential whilst at the same time being a true drivers car.

    Auction Description:

Delivered new in Germany in 1973, the car offered here, chassis number '0936', is a genuine Carrera RS Touring model retaining its original Type 911/83 engine. The Carrera was delivered finished in Grand Prix White with contrasting Viper Green graphics, and is one of 60 supplied new in this colour scheme. Its early history in Germany is not known.

In the early 1980s the car was imported into the USA by Miami dealer/broker David Mohlman and, in accordance with the then current requirements, went through a DoT and EPA conversion. Mr Mohlman then sold the Porsche to one Dolores Lazzarin of Coral Gables, Florida. Its next owner, accountant John F Kelly of Fort Launderdale, Florida, purchased the Carrera from Ms Lazzarin and kept it for approximately the next 30 years before selling the car to a friend, Porsche restorer Phil Bagley, in May 2014 (see Mr Kelly's letter on file). During Mr Kelly's ownership the Porsche was maintained by Butch Stokes of Fort Lauderdale, who rebuilt the engine and gearbox around 1,000 miles ago. Mr Bagley handled the sale to the current owner.

Since its arrival in the UK, the car has been serviced by Pace Products of Haverhill, Suffolk, whose bill for £2,617 is on file, and we are advised that further cosmetic works are being carried out to the tune of £10,000 (bill to follow). Described as in generally very good condition, this highly desirable and rare Carrera RS Touring is offered with the aforementioned bills, owner's manual, current MoT/tax and V5C registration document.

The real #406 owned and restored by David Withers is for sale in Sydney (no affiliation). Discussed at length in other Early 911S threads when that guy in CA was trying to sell the fake German copy.

Thank you for posting the Supplement on this forum. They are not numbered and can be used for all '73 RS. I'd like to buy it for my RS but of course would first like to know your price idea.

    Cheers,
