RHD is a +ve in Australia, as it in the UK. But a non-original engine sure isnt. I agree this is therefore a big ask - $A80K is around $US60K, and there is plenty not right about that car by the look of it. Heaven knows what it would owe you after an accurate restoration here. Ask Clyde Boyer. The car's provenance would also need to be confirmed to even begin to think about this price.

F-series cars were few and far between in Australia - 9 coupes and 4 Targas only were delivered, so if this is a genuine Oz delivered RHD 73S, it is a rare car here.

You guys may be interested in the most recent sale price realised downunder for a 73RS - a RHD Hong Kong delivered car for $A295K (approx$US225K) that has been a one owner car here in Sydney since 1974. Unrestored with a commensurate range of cosmetic issues, but only 10,000 or so genuine miles, if the published data is to be accepted.

There is also an unrestored, reasonably original (both doors restored), Aussie delivered matching number sunroof silver 3 owner 73S on the market for $A130K, which is a shade below $US100K on current exchange rates. That said, it hasnt exactly rushed out of the dealers door at that price!

    cheers

Tony the chassis number is correct for one of the 5 speed coupes delivered to Australia. The colour is correct as well (5252 Signal Yellow).

However I am not sure about the rest....... the engine situation cant help it and it looks from the photos to need a little TLC

Considering the engine is neither original nor is it functioning, that's a retarded asking price. Interior is 90%???? Proabably a very subjective opinion by the seller there. God bless the guy with that kind of money to toss at that thing.

I agree with what you say Paul.

That said, the market here has always been higher in equivalent $ values than in the US. If I were to speculate why, I would say that your market has much higher volumes of cars available ( but I suppose more buyers as well). Also most Australian delivered cars have spent their lives in a climate that is roughly somewhere between California and Arizona, so they are generally in very good condition from a corrosion point of view. We dont get the really bad rusted out cars that you guys show pix of sometimes, so the median price is higher I suspect for this reason also.

Supply and demand as always is a big factor. When there were only a handful ever delivered, when one comes up there will always be interest. I paid equal to high $US50's for a ground up, wonderfully restored RHD 73S, locally delivered with full provenance and 75000miles last year. I gulped, but I also knew that to buy a car that would require that sort of restoration today would have ended up costing me double, assuming I could even get all the parts I would need. I also didnt know if I would ever get the chance again, and it had been my dream for a long, long time! I havent regretted it for a second.

    cheers

That and and the fact they wouldn't have to put on the "Driver on the Left" sign on it.

Driver on left sign not needed now if car is over 30 years old hence why I imported my RS when 30 years had elapsed (2003).....oh yeah and the fact there is no duty to import them helps too!

Speaking of snakes and Aus. I did have a run in with one of your red bellied black snakes in Uralla, NSW a few years back. When they are lying still, they sure do look like a cable that needs to be pulled in a trench !

Now why couldn't that car have been available on my last visit when I was actually in SA? I'm heading to Aus. again on the 18th but, I'll be in Perth this time and no real layover in Sydney . Wish my customer could make up their mind where they want to put these antennas.

It's only three of these little guys, They should be able to plop em anywhere.
