    Thanks,

Well done! I have a 1967 (1968 model year) L sporto - you'll hear a lot of people say otherwise, but IMHO try and find a correct model year four speed sport box you can put back in (the 901 will be worth a few bucks anyway). To drive they're a hoot and NOTHING like the later three speed Sporto. Because so many people converted the sporto to the manual box, Sporto's are now becomming hard to find - and appreciated.

Looks like most of the difficult to find bits are there so you've got a gem If you need to recover the dash I have a roll of the original factory 'L' elephant hide material.

Do let us know the chassis number - mine is 11810056.

Welcome to the world of the SWB

    Your Barn Find

Great story! I created a website that is perfect for your story. It's free so don't worry. The site is only 2 days old.

It is a site dedicated to telling collectors and hobbyists around the world your barn find story. After all, you though it was intersting enough to post it on Pelican, why not a site where the world can read it!

try it...please. I can use a good Porsche story.

or send me an email with pix (jpegs) and the story (cut and paste the one you have) to

    info@mybarnfind.com

The more I see of the car, the more I realize that this is a very unmolested car. Restoring the car to stock seems to make the most sense. As they say "It's only original once."

I'll keep my eye open for a 4 sp sporto. to complete the car, but by heart is set on keeping the manual. Thanks for the offer of the "elephant skin". I hear that's more rare than hen's teeth! This car actually has the basketweave on the dash and doors.

    VIN# 11805445

    Engine Serial # 3380415

I'll take inventory over the next few days and let you know what's needed on first glance.

    Thanks for your input!
