For Mercedes W100 (Grosser) lovers - very special!

So we're doing a big clean up...and we're losing some sentiment and gaining some sensibility (I think). Yes I/we are (all) very attached to Dad's collection of bits'n'bobs, but in order to be able to take proper care of the P-car stuff, I have to streamline the collection.

Thought I would share this amazingly beautiful customer selection kit with you before it goes to a new home, no doubt in Europe or the States. Interest has come mainly from Stuttgart (not surprising).

I doubt these kits were issued with each car; more likely supplied to select dealers. Dad came by this one in the early 70s and I found it only last week. Before anyone berates me, the kit spent the weekend at home for the kids to admire and to learn its history and importance. And I took lots of pics!

The kit has a full range of leather and fabric swatches, paint chips and woodgrain selections. It also has the most amazing book detailing the basic specs and options, tech specs and 11 beautiful B&W picture plates. It is truly gorgeous and I very much hope a true W100 enthusiast ends up with it .

    Cheers,
    Lisa

Interesting indeed! My father has a 1969 MB 280 SE 2 door coupe (European) with the FI inline 6 (as opposed to the V8's sold in the U.S.). The fellow he bought it from had a 300 SEL and a 55 300SL Gullwing (among a hoard of other oddball German cars). I think my dad is getting to the point of selling his car, so maybe next winter we will begin the sorting of a couple of minor issues and begin searching for the appropriate buyer (I guess I'll have to do some research... )
