    Air mixture adjustment for 72S

I just bought a 72S sunroof coupe. What a great car. I picked up the car in Oregon and drove it home to Southern California. I will post more about the car soon but first I need some help. About half way home the car developed an issue with the idle. It would idle very low and when you tried to brig the revs up the engine would spit and sputter and finally the rev would jump to 2K or above. Once the revs are up the car runs perfectly. The car was living at 4K feet and running fine when I picked it up. My guess is that the air mixture is off for my altitude (< 1000 ft). Any advice on adjusting the air mixture?

    Thanks,
    Steve

I have had MFI cars that I bought at sea level and taken them to 7000 ft, they ran rich but that was about it. Maybe a different deal going from high to low. You need to find someone that can adjust your MFI they are quite complicated and require some special tools.

What color are the plugs? If the car was set up to run better at high altitude, and you move to denser air, that would suggest it's running too lean. The only way to really tell is with an exhaust gas analyzer.

MFI is not quite a black art if you are willing to invest the time to learn how the system works and follow the steps in Check Measure Adjust exactly and in order. Here's a guide to get you started.
