Thread: Transmission Surprise!

    Question Transmission Surprise!

After separating my engine and transaxle, I found to my surprise, that I have a transaxle with the internal main seal. I thought that was only a 72 car thing. Anyone know different? It is a matching numbers car and the transaxle is original.

72s and 73s are both internal input shaft seals. However, on the 73, it is possible to change the seal without disassembling the transmission, but you need a special tool. Ask around for a shop that has the tool, if you need to change the seal.
