Cool, but now I feel obligated to get the thread back on track -

Ray, you said originally you were using ACD PhotoShop, not sure if you meant the full version or a lesser one like Elements. The full PS is not real intuitive, nor the best software for simple tasks sometimes. I've used about everything out there, the best one I've found for everyday stuff is from an Australian company, the product is called ACDSee. It's cheap at $50 for the new version 8 and will do 90% of what PS will do, and some things PS won't, and it's also a heckuva lot easier to use.

If you have something like 100 shots from a car show, you can shoot them at high resolution in case you want to do something you actually need a lot of resolution for, like making good prints or blowing up parts after cropping. But for emailing or site posting, where mega-pixel level resolution is a waste, you can drag all 100 at once to a work 'basket' in ACDSee where you'll now have copies, do a group resize on all 100 with one click, and with one more click, save those new versions at a lesser resolution (file size) for posting or emailing while saving your originals. Bang zoom, you're done. Or you can upload them to a server space ACDSee gives you for free, and just point people to the URL instead of having to do email attachments. Lots of other good tricks in it too. So if you're just frustrated with the editor you're using, check it out - they're at http://www.acdsee.com/

I have used a lot of imaging programs, including the full Photoshop version, which is great for doing extensive manipulation, touchup, etc., but for simple resizing and enhancement, I still use irfanview, which is freeware and can do most operations you need, including batch resizing and renaming, color/contrast/brightness enhancement, etc. Free web space for hosting photos is also readily available in many places on the WWW.
