    Greazy black globs at start-up

When I fire up after the car is completely cold, little black globs (oil?) pepper the garage floor. It clears up when the car is warm. The stuff cleans up easily with Simple Green.

On a related note, when the engine is reved and it slightly misses, a little puff of black oily smoke comes out the exhaust.

Are these usual on a 2.7 MFI and if not, are they related?

    Thanks in Advance

Sounds like a nice mix of carbon, oil and any other unburnt hydrocarbons mixed with some condensation. This used to happen all the time on my VW. I can't imagine that it is anything to worry about.

I have the same problem with my Alfa Romeo, and had it with a 912 before, and other that it being annoying, it has (to my poor knowledge) no effect on the engine.

My uncle did the same thing in the morning. He would then light up another unfiltered Camel!

Burn gasoline, you get water (among other things). I think it's just water mixing with soot in the combustion chamber and exhaust while things are still cold. Now, if you're blowing hot oil ....
