R Gruppe member PR for Cars

Its not bragging if you are bragging for your brother, right? My (younger!) brother and R Gruppe member Gary Schultz is getting major kudos for his work on Pixar's 'Cars', out next week, but he's too shy to post this himself:

    http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dl.../FREE/60523007

The current issue of Pano also has a shot of him in front of Pixar with his '67 S, I have electronic copies of it if anyone is interested.

    Thanks,
    David

That Pano article was great. I hope he joins us. I'd like to hear more about his 67S. From the article, it said it is his daily driver! Right on.

I haven't posted anything to the S Registry board in a long time and several people have put in a ton of help in getting my car completed recently, so I thought I'd write in to say thanks, and highlight their work. Thanks to my brother, Kevin Beard, Chris Genau, Jim Breazeale and John at Easy, and others for helping to keep the project on track.

My car is a 1967 911S Coupe, original paint, original California car with fully documented history and a few modifications. Original 901 gearbox and matching-number 2-liter motor. The theme for the car was inspired by the 1967 911 that Vic Elford drove to first place at the Monte Carlo Rally.

    Here are the modifications;
3-outlet Rally Exhaust built by Jay Sycip (we started with a stock Dansk)
    911R Rainshields (also from Jay)
Peet's Coffee tea strainers to keep small animals and roadside vegetation out of the carbs (this'll soon be replaced with some type of proper air filtering--although it sounds wonderful with this setup)
MSD Ignition (hidden under the passenger seat)
Blaster Coil made to look like the stock Bosch unit (all of the electronics were all done by the amazing Steve Smith in the Bay Area)
    Modified Oil overflow tank
    911R replica seats
    908 wood shift knob
New Coco mats (pattern taken from the originals)
    duckbill-seat leather belts
refinished Wood steering wheel to replace the Prototipo (thanks Rolly!)
Factory A/C (ok, this is not consistent with the rest of the car's theme, but it's original to the car)
Factory AM/FM/SW radio (apologies to the RGruppe, but the hole is already there and the interior is all original, so . . .)
    Dual-adjustable rear Koni competition shocks
original NOS-Driving light horn grilles (thanks Eric Linden!)
    Cibie 45 driving lights
911R-offset 6-inch front and 7-inch rear Steel wheels (sorry, I don't have pictures of the car with these on yet--right now it's deep-six Fuchs all around)
    Vintage Dunlop racing tires

    thanks Bro,

Would like to add that Gary's mug, along with his other Cars car-guy cohorts, are in the featured article in the May 29 issue of AutoWeek magazine.

Caption reads, "Gary Shultz, modeler and artist, is big into the vintage Porsche 911 scene."

    Nice job Gary.

    Regards,
    Sherwood

Way, Way, Way Cool Gary. I love the details and that shift knob is just right. The AC looks perfect as does the stance etc.....Sheeeeiiiiiitttttt that is one Sweet 67S.

I'd love to learn more about the 3 out muffler. Did you say you started with a stock Dansk unit? I just pulled my SS Dansk off my car and replaced it with the stock unit. If you could PM me with details and a number for Jay, I'd appreciate it.

Can't wait for the movie man. Congrats on all fronts.

Damn Dave, your bro's car puts your's to shame! We'll remedy that quickly, thanks to your imminent return to the midst of the PNW. Imagine that, you'll actually be able to attend an RGruppe event with a car.

Thumbs up Way to go Gary!

Gary's work on CARS was major, and the CNN TV story with Paul Newman showed some of it - Cool!! I haven't been to a theatre in years, but this film is an exception!

Congratulations, Gary!! Your car looks great too.

Dave, we look forward to seeing you in the PacWest chapter!
