911R engine lid grille - photos needed

I need photos of 911R/composite/lightweight engine lids & closeup shots showing how people have attached the mesh grille.

I have already searched the archives here & studied all of the relevant photos on Ernie Wilberg's site - looking for new ideas/inspiration.

    Post away...

I attached mine just using the standard mounting holes. I just mounted it below the lid and used some fiber washers to protect the paint and then used metal washers to sandwich the grill between. It looks very clean, I could take some close up pics if needed.

I think you have seen this thread in search already but for others here are some ideas: http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ght=911R+grill

Bret - if you could post some close-up pictures that would be great.

Here are a couple. The first is Peter Kitchak's and the second is Miles Collier's. I can email larger versions if that would help.

I tried to lighten those up a little. And I don't know if this is any help, but I've included Kitchak's ST and the Targa Florio winning RSR as well.

Original factory part, engine lid, 911R

    Hi Andy,
This is an original factory part, it has holes in the frame to lighten it up. I'm not sure if it came that way from the factory, this car was purchased from the factory as a race car. Someone may have modified it along the way.

The aluminum metal mesh grille is bonded to the fiberglass from the inside of the lid. Ernie.

    new ideas

The Carrera GT engine grille is a six sided mesh, my idea was to use the same type of mesh on an R lid. you can find it at www.mcmaster.com under hexagonal hole perforated sheet, it's Aluminum and the size is close to the GT.
