My turn indicators blink when actuated on the corners and on the tach but the "clicking" when actuated is gone. Is it the relay?

It's the blinker/relay or whatever you want to call it. I believe my feeble mind remembers removing the tachometer to get to it. Or was it the oil pressure/temp gauge?Originally Posted by kissov356

C'mon you slobs. Help a guy.

Tom,
I have the same distant memory, is it in that place behind the tach, I cannot remember, is it a seperate part to the light "flasher" that part works, just no click, click.
It's behind the Tach. Has to be. Here's the part and part number. Your's might be "tired".

Tom
Tom,
I looked at the same parts CD and the factory service tome, I cannot find where the relay is, I assume its behind the dash, thats where the clicking comes from? God I love pulling out all that "fresh air" ducting to get to the back of the dash.

Don't EVEN go that way. Pull the gauges.
You need 2 people to set up the fresh air cables (at least imho) correctly.

Tom
unless its a 69 or earlier then you have to get in there from the trunk. Guages are held in place with tabs bolted/ screwed on from the back. You don't have to disconnect all the cables on a 69: remove the cardboard, unplug the air box, disconnect the drain tube from it. Carefully with needle nose remove the clips retaining the cables ONLY on the center section of the air box. Remove the other clamp. Remove the screws holding the outer cowl screen in place, remove screen, un screw the two phillips "hidden" holding the box and gently work it out from the cowl- now you have access to the relays.

I think you mean if it's 69 (68's too) and later cars. The pre-68 cars have gauges that are held in from the back side of the dash and yes, you do have to get in there to move some things but guess what? There isn't a hell of a lot to move. I've been all up in the back of my dash taking photos so there is a ton of room to work. The later cars are TIGHT.
The later cars all utilze push in gauges with a rubber ring to hold them in place as it's a little larger than the hole with the band installed. The band act as a gasket filling the hole and the ribbed surface keeps the gauges from popping out. You have to work at it to get them to come out. Mark your wires and lay the gauge to the side. Get a flashlight and "voila" the flasher!
Don't screw with the fresh air system. Pull the gauge. I promise you WILL SEE THE FLASHER.
SEE THE PHOTO. I did mine from the oil/temp gauge I believe. I took off the steering wheel to make it easier. 27mm nut. Loosen the nut but don't take it all the way off until the wheel is "free". I've seen a bloody nose from a hard yank with the nut off.
The ONLY time I ever pulled the fresh air system was when I was installing a foglight switch. You have to to install that correctly. The holes are there but the hole in the dash IS NOT. They are plugged at the factory on the double walled dash. You pull the plug, align your drill and do the deed.
Good luck,
Tom
