    Horn Contact Pin

I purchased this steering wheel kit to replace my worn cup, spring and contact pin. My contact pin plastic was cracked from old age and this replacement does not seem to work. It looks shorter than my original/damaged part. Is this part applicable for the 914 wheel only as I notice the part number starts with 914.

The 914 pin is actually about two times the length of the 911 pin. The one in the pic looks correct to me. Possibly the new one is not staying seated and actually pushing back up from the spring tension?

maybe I have it upside down although it appears the plunger side goes down the hole? maybe my original was the 914 part? wonder what else could be a problem if it worked before the pin change? no issues with electrics or fuses, has to be pin contact issue.

What does the pin do? I have never seen it when my steering wheel is off.

    Suggestion
Why not let someone else try the pin in their car before drawing any conclusions

I found the problem, short pin is correct for 911 (unless you have factory hub extension option) which my car does so it requires a special longer pin. Mystery solved. thanks

AHHH, extended hub. So, does it use the long 914 pin then or a third pin length?

that is the 64k question. i sent my 911 short pin back for the longer pin they claim will work, will find out as soon as it comes and post answer. if that one does not work then I will have to appeal to the board to find one but how many hub extension options were there, might be a needle in a haystack search

Is the same pin suitable for my 67S or is that a different pin again?

    Cool

Boxster03, if you have the factory extended hub the longer horn contact button starting with a 914 part number is the one you need. Ask me how I know, because I have the same steering wheel. My car also came from the factory with this option. JIM
