    Nurburgring results, note Japanese cars

I remember when some people on this board said how great these Subaru and Mitsubishi products are. Well, check out the results at the 24 hours of Nurburgring. These are production based racers. I guess Porsche still is the best.

    Very interesting.

I wonder what happened to all the Rice Wagons????

    Must have been a fluke.

During the LeMans coverage they mentioned that 230,000 people showed up to watch the Nurburgring 24hr race. Factoring in the LeMans crowd almost a half million fans showed up on the same day to watch these two 24hr marathons....amazing. And the Nurburgring race is production based cars, no prototypes.

The really cool thing is that any qualified amateur can run this race. All you have to do is attend the annual BMW CCA driving school at the Ring and have an SCCA competition license. Info here: http://c311.c3biz.com/c3racing/

    24 Hours at the ring

Well again next year, this is an incredible experience 200K plus drunk Germans
camped out outside the track, and a whole lot of fun if you get to work the pits, I did in 99,00, 02, In 00 a mini cooper (old style) rolled twice and each time was rolled back up, pounded out and back on the track.

Mark many teams rent a seat, need some time at the ring however

Ya got to go ! once at least

One of our friends ran in the race at Nurburgring. He got a ride in #254 Alfa 147 diesel. I am waiting to hear all the stories (various problems a 24 hour race can pose), but he is happy they finished in 101st spot

Face it, a GT3 is a street legal race car. None of the others had a chance in hell.

Just wanted to show everyone where all the fast Mitsubishi and Subaru finished. These cars have no reason to even be considered as a driving machine. Streetlight to streetlight.....yes. But not a real race. Good thing no one brought a Carrera GT.

Yes. Porsche is king of all things automotive. Its good to see such open mindedness on this board.

BTW: a stock Japanese spec STI lapped the 'Ring under 8 minutes. Right around the same time as a GT3 (996 model). Both on street tires. Not bad considering the $70k savings.
    Cheers,
