    Cibie's: false or true?

I have two trivia questions. I have received the information from a Citroen specialist for more that 35 years. He states:

    1. Marchall lights were never sold in the (Cibie) hood mountedbuckets but were originally used for the more eclipsed (bullit) shape lights you see on a DS. They do fit but are incorrect as for originality.
    2. Despite old pictures which I have seen, he says that for Porsche and Renault Alpine the chrome rings didn't have a tab.

I spoke w/ this guy several times and he seems to know what he is talking about. However I would like your input on these 2 matters.

    Regards, Richard

You have probably seen this ad before. A Citroen collector I know in the Netherlands claims they came with both types.

Yes I have seen that several times but that doesn't help me much since the person who told me is a Citroen partsdealer for over 40 years ..

Maybe someone has some close-up vintage pics of a Porsche with the Cibies mounted, where it is possible to see the tabs/no tabs?

    Cibies mounted

These were picked up at the factory by the owner when the car was delivered and installed at the Penske dealer in the U.S..The factory wiring was in place with dash rocker switch. I was told by the original owner that Porsche would not put them on due to DOT regs. This is a 73E.

I has the same lights as pictrued on the blue car mounted by the factory and wired into the headlight switch on the first Porsche I owned a 73E.

It was an Aussie delivery RHD car that was picked up from the factroy and driven in Europe for 18 months before shipping to Down Under.

They definately had the tabs on the chrome rings as did the spare lights I bought in Australia some time later.
