R Gruppe photos from Le Mans '06

Here are just SOME of the photos taken. Between the 3 of us, at least 800 photos. I'll be dividing them up between the places we saw, ex. Porsche Museum, the NEW Mercedes Museum, Le Mans Cafe restaurant., etc. in the coming days......

Will, Thorsten and myself inside the track

during the race, we were able to sit in the grand stand section, no reserved seating

    few more

after the race, we walked the track from the grandstands to the Dunlop Bridge...as you walk the track, you REALLY can "feel" the history of Le Mans

Here is Thorsten taking a little bit of Le Mans home...his 3rd bag...

On Monday, we drove the parts of the track that are basically city streets...
Mulsanne, Arnage...everywhere but the actual track itself...

our rental, a Ford Focus station wagon, reconnecting to its GT 40 DNA,

cannot forget the ferris wheel...BTW: its a looong walk from the start of the Mulsanne straight, past the Dunlop Bridge, through the grandstands, to the carnival section of the track, just to go there.

    more

Honestly, there was a let down going to the Porsche Museum. Very small, not much to look at. NO comparison with the new Merceds Museum. Porsche has a VERY high bar to meet/surpass.

The last photo I posted was/is suppposed to be "art". This piece is in th lobby of the dealership acros the street from the factory. I don't get it.
