    Plavan's 2.5 at Willow

I hi-jacked this from the Pelican board...

Chad Plavan is a contributor here as well...

It gives a chance for all to see what Willow Springs is all about and what SoCal'ers have had for our local race track... for the last 52 years

Chad has posted a 20min video of his VARA race last Sunday where I hear the temperature was around 110.

Some of what the video shows is:
    - Willow has always demanded courage and horsepower
    - Chad is one hell of a driver
    - Chad's '69 2.5 short stroke hauls ass
    - What a 'small displacement' race motor should sound like
    - How persistence counts and how it's important to 'drive your own line'

With a video like this you can actually pick a reference point and time his laps from the screen.
Chad is turning between the mid to high 1:30's throughout the whole 15 lap race...
In comparison, if I counted my 'best' lap at Willow with my 2.7 rebuild and on my race tires, Chad would be lapping me before the end of this race...

    Cheers and enjoy,
Race video from Willow Springs (June 25th) up.
It was HOT!!!! I posted it up on google. Despite the heat I managed to get the fastest lap of 1:35.2 . I was a second faster in the cooler morning. I ended up finishing first. It was very fun.....but HOT. enjoy.

    Maybe this will work better...

Chad is the man for no wing racing.
John Risvold has run 1:30 with his R Gruppe 3.2.
My bomb ran 1:27 but we prefer wider tires (me more so) and a rear wing.
Anyone (local) that considers themselves a sports car driver should try Big Willow at least once.

Nice video. It was refreshing to see a 914 up front ... for a little while, at least

Say, Mike, I heard you went nuts on your car (again). Got any pictures?

    Hi Marco,
I read about your paint job snafu, happens to all of us.
Yeah we plan to get 4 days work done on it this weekend.
I'd rather be at Riz's party!
It did the 127 as the early bodied RSR, since then,
it lost 150lbs, better aero and still street legal.
993 EVO2 look, common progression for a track type car.
New body debut July 17th DE at the Q.
Hope to see you at the track, when it cools down.
    Back in the pool!

    Mike, you have a disease.

Good choice on the bodywork ... the EVO is one of the finest examples of the later, air-cooled 911s - a personal favorite.

Only problem? Can't run the Garrard livery anymore.
