15" tires for early rsr w/9"-11"x15" fuchs

does anyone know what street tires are available for a 73' rsr
    using 9" and 11" wheels.
yokohama has remade the 285/40-15 in an avs intermediate but they now don't make the 225/50-15 fronts.
    doesn't make sense to me!!!!!!
someone has to make a set of tires to fit these cars.

Coker carries similar sizes in the vintage style Michelin TRX:

    280/45VR415
    220/45VR415

    They are expensive.

I've got a set of 345/35 Pirellis that I am going to put up for sale, Pm me. People have been hand grooving slicks which isn't cheap either. I also have a set of 245/50 Dunlops not matching but they are almost new.

I also have one 225/50 AVS if you can find a single.

I think there is a set of tires that Eade Hopkinson has for these wheels that he bought through Harvey Weidman that were never used. Give Harvey or Eade a call.

HAve you tried Michelin TB15s? They are really meant for the track but are road legal and have the advantage of a period tread pattern. Most of the European RSRs I have seen use them. They definitely make sizes to fit 9s and 11s.

    See http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/michelintb15.php for more information.

I use the 215/55/15's on 8x15's and 295/40/15's on 11x15's. These are considerably lighter than the AVS.

A ‘73RSR would have come new with Dunlop race tires. As raced here in the US, it surely would have used Goodyears.

Goodyear makes a current replacement for vintage racing. It is a R655 compound in sizes “7.00x15” and “8.00x15” designed to fit 9” and 11” rims. The section width for the front is 12” and 13.1” for the rear. These are current production and not NOS. They are available from any Goodyear race tire dealer for $230 and $239 each.

Remember, these are race slicks and not DOT street tires.

    Best,

He's lookin for street tires according to his original post. But they sure would be fun to toss on a set and have a lil street fun on a Sat nite with them.

I realize Grady has passed, but reading his old post I was wondering, what would happen if these tires were used on the street? Would you blow up in flames? But seriously, could they be used? Could they be custom grooved? Would the police give you a ticket? Just wondering.
