To Schutz or not to Schutz?

The cover that bolts up underneath to cover the steering rack and master cylinder. For a '71E does that get undercoating or just paint?

    thanks,

    Larry

I'm doing a 71 S and I'm submerging the whole part in POR-15 silver then painting it flat black. The silver has metal to fill some of the pits, and with a high exposure part like the cover pan we need all the help we can get Good luck Allan

    Hi Larry,

Powder coating is also a nice strong finish. Like Allan I am also working on a 2.2S, here is a quick pic of the part in question.

    Thanks

    transmisssion mount inserts?

Alan, your photo of those beautifully restored parts raised a question: I have that same transmission mount in my '66. I've always been told that the rubber inserts were NOT replaceable, but there you are with the inserts out. So is there indeed a replacement part? Mine have never been replaced. I figure 40 yrs is a good interval, whether they need it or not (!)

    cheers

    Hi Adam,

I have also read that they can not be changed, but they are the same rubbers/inserts as the engine bar ones. Just push them out and fit new, takes 2 minutes with a press. In this pic you can see the most of the new mounts which I use.

    Thanks

    Alan

    Thanks for the replies.

My car came with the plate missing. I replacement I obtained from Partsheaven was schutzed, which I assumed was correct until I happened across a picture which indicated paint only.

Does anyone know of a source for the rubber that goes on the leading and trailing edge of the plate?

    Hi,

I buy mine from a supplier in Germany but that's a bit far for you.
    Part numbers from the PET are 901 341 165 00 (-71 , 72 has a 181
    instead of the 165).
    and 901 341 166 00 for the other side.

    Thanks

    Alan
