Thread: Original Battery Ground Strap?

    Original Battery Ground Strap?

I am wondering if this the original ground strap for the batteries of a 1970. I have one like this and then another that I suspect is not original.

I would like to find a match to this if it is correct and if it is not correct a pair of the original ones.

    Thanks in advance.

No, that is a later strap like the one I had in my 964.

Original will be flat, the LWB is longer than the SWB, copper, with tinned ends.

LIke this one. They're easy to find from the usual sources.

I know you're after total originality, but a good trick before you put new ones on is to hold both ends in a "U" and dunk the braided part in a can of black Plasti-Dip. It puts a nice rubbery coating on which keeps them from scratching anything or coming apart as easy as they tend to do where they have to twist when mounted.

    Thanks guys,

I thought those were generic Pep Boy specials that Pelican was selling. I have one as you show and the one in my pic.

I have two, a 71 and a 72; and all are flat for the grounds like GreenT is showing.
