R Gruppe Car Wins Road & Track Concours

This was so cool. Road & Track magazine sponsored a Concours in Elkhart Lake as part of the Brian Redman CanAm Reunion Races Saturday night. Randy Stenson entered his low-kilometer 71T hotrod. This car is as sick as they come - lots of little tricks everywhere you look. I was lucky to take it for a spin and believe me, it drives as good as it looks. Randy and Larry Merzano have a lot of time into this build and it paid off. The car won it's class!!

I know Randy wouldn't post photos of it, so I'm going to do it because I know there're a few people out there who are dying to see this wicked little hotrod.

    Congrats Barb & Randy!

what a cool machine this is. I had hoped the Elkhart Lake gathering is again in September as me and my family were lucky to attend last September.
Is there another Historic Race in the fall?? I'd like to come again!

Congrats Randy and Larry! The paint on that car is beyond words. It looks like it could be in the Pebble Beach Concour. Now that the awards have been given it must be DRIVEN!

    Jurgen,

Yes there is a smaller historic event in September just like last year. We better get Larry going on the Conda green car ASAP if you coming over again.

The more I see a Fuel Safe in the front of a car the better I like it. That' a whole lotta gas.
Porsches have always been known to "back into" things but a front collision has always scared the heck out of me. Money well spent and this one is finished like no other! What a beautiful car.

    Great work Randy and co.!

    Best,

    Tom

They drove the race cars from Road America and into town Friday night (probably around 2-3 miles). One of cars lost it and went into a drainage ditch - not sure what exactly happened!? Anyway, here're some random photos of some of the action:
