    Strange fading on fuel/oil gauge

Has anyone noticed the fuel/oil gauge face fading to a different finish than the rest of the gagues? Green T has this same issue on his. Is this correct or was there strange fading.

"I have a nice original 70 as well, and I noticed it looks like yours has exactly the same odd thing as mine - the combo fuel/oil gauge face fading to a different finish than the rest of the gauges. Thought it was an anomaly, but maybe it was something that happened on other 70's as well. I finally got tired of looking at it and sent it off to N. Hollywood Speedo to be refinished. Just got it back this week, $80 to have done (refinish face, new bezel and glass), and the job they did was outstanding. "
