Angry What Was I Thinking ??!!

Eade's post in the "Show Your Ride" thread made me think of this....

I know that many of us have sold cars that we really regretted selling later. My biggest regret is a '69 911S Coupe that was original and in unbelievable condition. Information here:

    What was I thinking ??!!

    Thumbs up

    WOW John,

First Nic's old car and now Gary's...

It seems this is the second of your cars that I know ...
In fact it stayed in my garage next to mine when Gary needed a place to crash for the night while attending a SoCal event....

The only thing different I remember was it had a beautiful polished stainless twin outlet sport exhaust .... But ya'know, I kind'a like it with the stock exhaust better....

    Cheers John,

... you're right, ya shouldn't have let that one go bud ...

    Unhappy

Maybe you sold it because for once it can be said that the car actually belongs to a museum. it's too original to be driven regularly, it should be preserved as is for future generations to remember what a new 911 was like...
I can understand you now have regrets, but the responsability must have been huge...

You're right, Milou. I do drive all of my cars - hard and often. I could never completely relax when I was driving that car. It was just too nice. Fortunately I sold it to a true enthusiast who is thrilled to have it. Don't know how much he drives it though.

OK, someone else's turn -- I know there are others here who regret selling a particular car.

It is for that reason that I think I will be pretty comfortable driving my restored car. Dirt and dings wont bother me as long as the really hard to find stuff stays protected. And of course not write-off type accidents.

Milou, are you pretty cool driving you car knowing that if anything happens you can repair it?

    Been there, done that!

    John,

I had an opportunity to own that '69S about 3 years before it ended up in your stable.
I have often regretted not purchasing it.
    It was a spectacular example!

Indeed, many of us have sold cars that we sometimes wish we still had today.

In my case, my dear "friend" Tom Fender sweet talked me out of my beloved 1967 911S in April of 2005.

Sure, it is only parked a few miles away from my home, and I do get to see it all of the time. However, now it is HIS and not mine!

So the obvious question is - is anyone looking to sell their pretty '67S?

I am being serious here ...

If so it was a wonderful example !
