Production Number (aka kneepad number) decoding?

I know that the production number behind the right side kneepad is not directly related to the VIN, and I was wondering if anyone has any leads on how to determine if the production number and VIN are in agreement. As far as I know, the only way to determine this is to directly contact Porsche.

    TIA

You are correct. Only Porsche has record of this for obvious reasons. They will not tell you what the matching numbers are. In otherwords you can't give them a VIN and expect them to give you a production number or vice versa. They will however tell you if the two numbers on the car match.
