Help! my key broke in the door lock

Can anyone give me some advice.

    I have a 1973 911.
My one and only key broke in the passenger door lock.
I managed to retrieve the key from inside the door lock.

    What are my options?

the key is in 2 sections and is a bit twisted.

Are there records of my key at a porsche dealership?

What can I do at this point?

    thanks

    Hi,
There are no records of a 73 key at the dealership.
Quick question though. Does the same key also unlock the glove compartment lock? If so, it should be very easy to remove the glove compartment lock cylinder and take it to a locksmith to make a duplicate. A good locksmith doesn't necessarily need the key itself to manufacture a key - but it helps alot...
There is also a good chance that if the broken key is not too damaged or twisted that the locksmith can temporarliy glue it together and make a copy of it that way. The latter method would be the easiest for you since it wouldn't require any work to remove the glove comp lock, so I guess I would stop by the local locksmith shop and see what he can do with the broken key first.
BTW, I did the same thing once with my 67 in the first few weeks I had it. I guess my passenger door lock had not been used much and was stiff. I figured that the more I used it, it would get easier - not. Well, I used a little too much force one night when coming out of a movie theatre with a girlfriend. Ended up calling the P.O. who said that he had an extra key which he Fex'd to me overnight. I had it by the next afternoon and everything worked out.
Chances are your passenger door lock needs some good lubricant to make it easier to turn.
As soon as I got the new key made, I took my door panel out, removed the lock and soaked it in DW40. Never had a problem with it again, and it turned like buttah...
