    300 kph speedo.....

I have a nice 300 kph speedo out of a '75 Euro Carrera. It's in pretty good shape but the bezel should be cleaned up.

$325.00 shipped in the lower 48.

Would this work in a '68 911? Mine's in mph, but I'm looking for a kmh one.

    No, it will not.

Up until 1970 Porsches used clamp-in gauges. In 1970 they went to push in with rubber grommets. Yours have studs on the back and are clamped into the dashboard.

    Hi Erwin,
I bought a KPH speedo a few weeks ago off EBay with the intention of installing it in my 73.5 targa. However, the date stamp on the gauge shows that it was manufactured by VDO in 1970 and it has screw mounts on the back which indicate that it is suppossed to be held in with brackets from behind (ala pre-70 models). I am planning on installing it this weekend. If I can't get it to mount properly, I would be happy to offer it to you. Cosmetically, it is a 10. Only imperfection when I got it was a little paint rubbed off the edges of the bezel which I have meanwhile touched up (see pic below). The face plate, numbering, needle and glass plate and needle look perfect. I can't confirm whether it works or not yet.
I'll PM you when I know for sure.
BTW, if it does, I will be selling my MPH speedo which I can confirm functions perfectly (no needle bounce) and is a perfect 10 cosmetically. I am guessing, but it looks like the PO had it restored right before selling to me. I also have a flawless KPH speedo from my 67 911 (green numbering/chrome bezel) I had restored 1 1/2 years ago by VDO in Frankfurt Germany which I might also be willing to let go of for the right price (car was sold last May to a guy in the UK who wanted the MPH speedo instead). It is concourse perfect.
In short, I have three really nice speedos and only one car....

EDIT: The bezels should also be chrome. They went to black bezels in 69.
