    Best eBay Ad. Ever!

No, this isn't another one of those ads for a butchered 911 or whatever. It's just an ad for an old speed shop decal. But if you have any interest in drag racing, there's lots more! This guy took some serious time to put this together

That's more history lesson than ad . I picked up a book a couple years ago that you probably would enjoy Curt, it's *The Birth Of Hot Rodding - the story of the dry lakes era* by Robert Genat and published by MBI. ISBN0-7603-2144-2

It is all photos taken from 1932 - 1950 mainly at Muroc dry lake with commentary from Mr. Genat who was there to witness and document the era. Great stuff, when function dictated what the car looked like ....yo, not one pimped out ride to be seen.

    Continental Divide Raceways

That is a great ad and I sent him a note to that effect.I auto-crossed at Continental Divide after it reopened. There had been a fatality in the pits and it was closed for a number of years due to law suits. It reopened around the mid- seventies, but now it is a housing developement.Still have pics of PCA events. The wildest ride of my life was there in a good friends 427 Cobra as a passenger.I think I had to throw out those shorts! Great times.Tom

Tom - I noticed those photos and the description that sports car races were also held there - very cool that you were one of the racers!

Jim - thanks for the recommendation on the book - sounds interesting.

Tom- I'd love to see your pics of CDR if possible. I'm a bit of ghost track junkie and that is one I haven't seen much. I was hoping to make it out there a few weeks ago but time ran short plus there's not much to see anymore.

That IS a great ad! What a trip down memory lane. As a veteran racer from Minnesota Dragways, I recognized many names and cars in the photos.
I even ran a 356SC there in the mid '60s. Usually ended up racing those "big"
    6 cyl. Corvairs!

    Re: CDR

Brian,I have looked and can only find pics of cars and nothing definitive about CDR.You might contact Don Adis who is now the General Manager of Prestige Porsche in Lakewood, Colo. at 303-238-8101.We go back to the 70`s in PCA and he might have access to photos left over from when it was called Bob Hagestad Porsche.Grady Clay who lurks about here and Pelican might also be helpful as he was always around the tracks there and Woody Creek in Aspen.Sorry I couldn`t be more helpful.
